I'm hoping they go with 2 gay romances, with the rest being available to both genders. There are so many opposite-sex only romances in Bioware games already, making more isn't anything special.

Doesn't seem very fair to straight players.

She gave him a chaste kiss on the cheek. That's it.

With that said, I too see her as being the straight female companion.

That chaste kiss makes me wonder how she is gonna be during the romance. She is definitely not gonna be someone that hops into bed at the first chance. Maybe another chaste marriage like Sebastian? :P

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns into her seeing the Inquisitor as her prince/princess charming and then dreams about living in castles and all the jazz :P

Why? Nothing is stopping straight players from romancing opposite-sexed bisexual companions.

I think she seems set up for some variation of the defrosting the ice queen trope. Very passionate deep under surface.

Um, because they have two less options, one per gender, than gay players if two are gay and everyone else is bisexual. Let's assume there are 6 LI options. A gay male or female player will have one more option, 3, than a straight male or female player, 2, will have.

God, I hope not. That trope has been way over used.

She is definitely tsundere though.

The unfair part isn't romancing bisexuals. It's the fact that straights will get less options.
As straight male, I personally couldn't care less about it, but I understand why others would be disappointed.

She does indeed have that kind of personality about her and I am interested seeing how it will develop. She does give me that kind of aura of having a built wall around her which she doesn't let anyone inside just like that (which is a feature I find many of her kind share with good reason). Hopefully we'll get the option to explore her more as a character other than where her ideologies and agendas lie, and from the little I have read this will be the case.

Looking forward to it.

All Bioware games have been this way, except in favor of straight players instead. Even Dragon Age 2. If you take that into account, gay players would still have less romance options overall from Bioware games.

When I read the threads for Cassandra or Dorian or whomever and see lots of fans who are crossing their fingers in hopes they can romance their favorites with a player character of the same gender, it really does not seem very "fair" to make those characters straight when there's already been a plethora of straight characters in Bioware games already.

I would prefer all characters be romanceable by all genders and races, but if they are going to put into 2 gay characters, I don't think it's so bad to make the others all bisexual when historically all straight players have had much more options throughout the Bioware games.

What nonsense. Da2 went largely for equality of accessibility for all orientations with fens getting an extra chaste romance.
The way to address past imbalances is for equality not disadvantaging others. Straight males have lost access to sera so it is only fair for there to be equal treatment for other orientations given they have gone for this silly gating system.

So you would be willing to say, for example, that Cassandra and Dorian shouldn't be romanceable by the lesbian and gay players in these threads because you want equal options as a straight player?

There should be a straight male companion, a straight female one and a gay male. Which companions these are isn't the issue.
If that means people miss out on romancing as gender they want that's the breaks of this poor new system, male players have already been on receiving end of this regarding sera.

Skyhold looks like a castle, that part is already covered. ;)

As for chaste marriage, Sebastian request it because he made a vow of chastity. I don't think it's part of the Seeker's vows. Going by her character profile she is most probably a prude though.

Good one! All we need to do now is kick everyone out so that they can live together ^_^

I think her beign prude could be cute. Such characters often create hilarious romantic situations.

This kind of "They should suffer what others have suffered" mindsets bugs me. As a wise man said, 'An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.'.

I don't see why past games are not part of the equation. Each of these newer Bioware games is built upon the feedback of previous games. They even put in certain companions/romances mostly/solely on the basis that the fans wanted them. So to say that x characters should be straight only seems very selfish to me when straight players have already many more options. In reality, if Cassandra is bisexual instead of straight, straight players do not actually lose any options, they just don't have another tally point to the amount of straight only options they've already had.

What exactly are you suffering from having Cassandra be bisexual instead straight? Come on. If you were really considered about fairness, why do you not count the other Bioware games where straight players had more options, if not all the options? If anything, having straight only companions makes gay players suffer.

Well, they suffer from having less options. There were many straight people who wanted Sera available to Male Inquisitors, so they suffered. There are many players who want Dorian available to women, so if he is gay then they suffer.

You basically want the straight players to feel the pain of what gay players felt in previous games, which is messed up.

how about having a sparring match with her (with actual combat gameplay) with different effects of what you say before/mid battle, like...

complimenting her skill with the blade, raises friendship - sparring difficulty stays the same

flirting with her, raises affection - sparring difficulty rises due to her being fired up and she doesn't want to show it.

I'm not just suggesting Sera or anyone should not be available to male inquisitors. I think an all-bisexual system is better than what appears to be Inquisition's system. What I am saying is that if they have to have Sera and another companion be available to only one gender, then they should at least make the rest of the romances available to both genders. In that scenario, straight players who have historically had more options overall, would not actually *lose* any options.

Male protagonists don't have many options to begin with, now that Sera has been confirmed to be a lesbian. If they take Cassandra away, that leaves Vivienne and the scribe adviser ...

Lol. The straight males will have options, that's for sure.

Also there's Viv, make her straight and problem solved. No one is taking Cass away, she will still be available to dudes.

DAI is its own game, past games should not come into it. Your views are akin to because for hundreds of years historically women were excluded from voting that men now should be denied the vote for the same amount of time. That's nasty, selfish and certainly not fair IMO. Men have to accept exclusions from sera and other orientations should equally have to accept such restrictions from companion romances.

That analogy makes no sense, because I have not advocated that straight players be denied options. It's apparent that there WILL be 2 gay only options, though, so I am saying that I hope the rest of the options are bisexual.

I don't see any reason to make DAI an island, either. It's part of the Dragon Age series, they are even making a big thing about the Dragon Age Keep program to have your world states imported into the new game.

If Vivienne or scribbles is straight and Cass bi would that be unfair to straight males?

Edit: for some reason I can't get my reply out of the quote. Sorry
