Neil Bloomkamp is making a new Alien,which might be ignoring Alien 3/Alien: Resurrection. So I'm holding out hope that it'll at least do justice to Aliens, unlike the previous two sequels. Still won't bring Vasquez or Hudson back, but Hicks still has hope. At least Vasquez got to go down spitefully and took a few aliens with her. Hicks got killed in the opening credits of the next movie. Laziest writing I've ever seen.

I'm surprised that a romanced Cass doesn't have anything to say about what happened to Ameridan and Telana. With the Well of Sorrows, Corypheus, and her track record of the people she cares about suffering horrible fates she does voice concerns about being parted from the Inquisitor.

If by "surprising" you mean you find it inconceivable that Bioware would ignore your specific decisions to push through vanilla dialogue/plot options (Leliana waves hi!) ...well, you are a lot more optimistic than I am.

The only quote that gives Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection any hope of staying canon is this:

 

"My favorites are the first two movies. I want to to make a film that's connected to Alien and Aliens. That's my goal. I'm not trying to undo Alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection, I just want it to be connected to Alien 1 and 2.

However, less than a week after saying the above qutoe, Blomkamp said this to an interviewer:

 

“It’s the inverse in that now I get to make the third film of the first two, which I think never happened. I think they made the first two and then went off the rails with these other ones. ... I don’t want to give much away but what I can say confidently is that Alien and Aliens are my favorite films and where it went after Aliens was incorrect to me as a fan. I didn’t want that world, I wanted the first two and that’s what I want to go back to.”

 

I'm not saying that Alien 3 and Alien:Resurrection are done for sure. I'm just saying that given the above quote, I can't imagine how Blomkamp is going to make the film he describes while still featuring the character of Hicks and/or Ripley. I just can't see how you can accomplish both of those things without simply ignoring huge swathes of established canon.

Not entirely related to Cassandra, but I decided to write another fic. Having played through the Citadel DLC again, I decided to put my own spin on it. The basic premise is similar to the DLC (CloneShep hires a gang of mercs to kill RealShep), but the way the plot unfolds will be different (namely, I'm not going to include Maya Brooks, as I detest her). I also intend for it to be darker and more grim as compared to the comedic and relatively light tone of the DLC. It's more of an action drama, and I intend to make the clone more of a "real" villain. I've already got a first chapter rough drafted if anyone's interested in seeing it and helping with feedback/proofreading.

 

Actually related to Cass: I also intend to do a one-off about Cassandra and the Inquisitor. That will be the first piece I've ever attempted for DA.
