I am out of likes, so I must tell you in text form that this post was gorgeous in its entirety.
I was fine with Shepard, but it was also the first "emotional" RPG I played (I'm rather a stealth/action gamer). I had played Skyrim before but, well, Bethesda really isn't exactly known for emotional or lively RPG characters. Also I can accept Shepard to be stoic and reserved because s/he's a soldier, been through some rough times etc. etc. The inquisitor however is just a person without military background or really any experience to speak of. Not as battle-hardened (the closest it gets should be the merch background of an Adaar and that's not military either), not as "grazed" as Shepard. Hauled out of his usual life and thrown into a situation s/he is completely unfamiliar with, all unprepared. All that does not apply to Shepard, who is just a soldier in a war. So in this DAI setting a few more emotions and a wider spectrum of options might have been nice. More expensive though, so I can live with them not doing it.
I would have wished for a lot more irony and sarcasm. But I understand they prefer to keep it more neutral to appeal to a wider audience.
You're right, that probably was the issue. I personally started DA2 with many prejudices (having read many bad reviews). So I kept waiting and waiting for the moment that it would turn to crap... and it just wouldn't.
Honestly, its a great game except for re-used environments. But I'd rather have re-used environments and a good story, then huge maps filled with fetch quest.
Which has nothing to do with their accomplishments as heroes, which was what was being discussed
Hawke cannot compare to the Inquisitor, Herald of Andraste, slayer of would be gods and 11 dragons.
Pfft, almost all of the Inquisitors accomplishments are because of the orb.SO technically it's Solas's power and not his.
Yep. The plots kind of stupid, but overall I enjoy playing it much more than I do playing DA:O.
Hawke is among the strongest characters, especially protagonist, DA or any BioWare game has ever seen. The problem is, RPGers don't like strong characters, unless they can be blank slates they can control every little thing about, not realizing the production curve. As my economy professor used to put it, "Guns and Butter(country as ****, but I live in SC so what can you do?)." For every gun you make, there will be less butter that can be made. RPGers prefer the gun to butter, the meat of the issue. Hawke's more butter which I appreciate. I don't need to control everything about my character.
Pretty much this.. I don't want to control every single detail,.or self-insert myself into the game. I want a good character..not some blank state. I just hope for DA4 we get an option to play a character like hawke.
As for COD, I used to play the multiplayer hardcore all the time along with halo. Stopped touching the series though after MW3. Tired of buying the same game. And the new ones just look ridiculous. Ship has sailed.
Plus it's nothing but a pointless cash grab now.
Is anyone laughing at how the witcher fans, are trying to defend a season pass? I lol..so much for CD-project being all good and holy and caring about the Gamers..
