Cassandra Pentaghast - Walking Tall

I find it doubtful that Cassandra's royal background will be anything more than fluff. She's not some hidden next-in-line like Alistiar, she's already decided on how she wants to live her life and she doesn't seem the sort to change her mind.
Even if her country needs her, Thedas needs her more.

I'd like to spend more than one game in Orlais, and I expect we'll hit Tevinter in a future game.

I would love if she actually says that if there is a Nevarra DLC.
Nevarran Noble: "But Princess Cassandra, you have a duty to Nevarra. We need you."
Cassandra: "I'm sorry, sir. But the Inquisition and Thedas needs me more."

She'd probably get interested if her country is in danger of the mages I mentioned earlier. Nevarra's fate seems pretty up in the air at the moment -- particularly her family.
Not to say she'd take any power herself though. Who knows. It's probably a big family.

This is how I see Cassandra too.

So you would be willing to say, for example, that Cassandra and Dorian shouldn't be romanceable by the lesbian and gay players in these threads because you want equal options as a straight player?
If I can't have Sera then the LBGT should lose someone too. It's only fair.
TBH, this sounded less childish in my head.

There were plenty of times that LGBT didn't have the equal number of LIs. For me it's fine if it's equal, but it would be interesting to see how straight PCs would react if the tables got reversed in this scenario.

Why, would that make you feel better?

I don't know why you'd actively want people to "lose" someone, but it seems very likely there'd be someone that's heterosexual among your companions.

They say why. Because then it is fair. People love fairness, yes?

Taking into account the fact that pretty much all Bioware games up to this point have given heterosexual players the pick of the litter with gay players being mostly an after thought, no I don't think it would be fair. They already said though that some companions will be one sexuality or another, so it is very likely some of them will be straight, but there is no guarantee it will be the one anyone in particular wants, that's just how it is. It's an optional feature in a video game from a company with a history of giving more choices to male heterosexual players. I don't think stomping your foot and shouting unfair is entirely logical or self aware.

So basically you think it would be more fair to have the straight players experience what the gay players have suffered for it to be more fair?

No not at all, I think straight players need to take a step back and realize that having a certain character unavailable romantically to them is not somehow a loss. No one took anything from them, and it is definitely not unfair. They haven't suddenly got less options, just not as many as they might have been used to in the past (meaning all of them.)
In short essentially, check your privilege and have some self awareness. As I said, it is a completely optional feature in a video game that no one is making you play. I understand the disappointment aspect like all gay gamers do when someone you like is unavailable, but you really have to get over it.

Ah, okay. I was going to say that seems a little messed up if I was correct in that.
This topic should be moved though. This is a Cassandra thread, not a romance thread.

Well Cassandra is still a romance so it's at least partially on topic, lol.

Yeah, but I mean we should avoid the whole "Who should be what" thing. Instead we should discuss how her romance will go. ![]()

Well kind of hard to discuss how her romance will go if we're not sure who she's even available for, haha.

Not really. Just think how certain scenes will go, how her personality will be, etc. Just use 'they' or 'them' to refer to Inquisitor instead of an actual gender.

Does it change anything?
If Cassandra is bisexual, she could behave exactly the same way regardless of the Inquisitor's gender for all we know. maybe she's not into physical attraction and what she cares about his personality and actions.
Maybe we have to give her a nug to get her attention, which she will reject saying she's not into "cute things". Than later you discover the nug, in a really clean and proper litter, somewhere in Skyhold...

Assuming she wasn't interested in women, yeah it would change a lot in that I would never get to experience her romance. It is definitely relevant.

I hope Cassandra when being romanced remains strong and fiery, rather than going all nervous and flustered.

Which, on reflection, is a very gamey way to think about this sort of content. I find it somewhat uncomfortable.
Anyways, while I hope Cassandra is available, my experience with DA:O was hoping for Morrigan and then becoming utterly besotted with Leliana. Liking someone is often greatly enhanced by having them like you back.
With that in mind, I'm prepared for Cass to be straight.
There is, however, this lingering feeling that lesbians have 'taken' the female elf romance from straight men, and that some fellows already have their gloating engines pre-heating for when the other shoe drops. I'd simply ask that this remain on tumblr and not make its way to the actual forums and fan threads.

I expect that there will be one more f/f relationship available. It may be Cassandra, Vivienne, or the Scribe NPC. As the Scribe is a non-companion, I am slightly worried that a romance with her wouldn't be as fulfilling as a regular companion. That despite having more romances than DA II, I'll only get 1.5 romances to DA II's 2.

I don't know, I haven't really been considering the advisor characters to be actual romances. It was why I found the Traynor romance unfulfilling, she wasn't an actual companion, even if she was super friggin' cute and awesome when she was around. It just didn't feel the same somehow, so I'm hoping they don't do that again here...

Well, Cullen is one, so it only makes sense for Scribbles to be one as well to be the female offset.
