It's probably one of my favorite books on the great war.
Even if I do view the author as a overhyped narcissist.

Ahh, to be young, and filled with high school angst again.
Are you sure? That is an awful lot of angst...

I recently reread Infantry Attack or Infanterie Greift.
It's probably one of my favorite books on the great war.
Even if I do view the author as a overhyped narcissist.
Speaking of which. I'm looking for some good military fiction. Any recommendations?

SO did I, until I grew older and realised it wasn't so bad after all.
I'd kill to read the books I had to read in high school again. The **** we read now is SO much worse.
Oh maker, yes! I read one of the 1st printings of fifty-shades..Lawd, my old English teacher would have had a stroke..
Only book I found bad in Highschool was 'the old man and the sea'...

Nothing I said was edgy though. It's not exactly an uncommon opinion.

I actually did enjoy reading Julius Caesar (because I'm fascinated by Roman history, though of course the play isn't the most accurate representation of Caesar's assassination) and Macbeth (Shakespeare's best if you ask me). The Scarlet Letter started out well enough, but it turned out to be 180 pages of incredibly dull tween p**n from 1850. I kind of ruined Moby Dick for myself before reading it. Prior to reading that, I had heard a ton about it and from everything I had heard it sounded great, but less than half of the book even bothers with the plot. Most of it is unrelated rambling, as though Melville were beating off to his vocabulary. My expectations were set a wee bit too high. Rime of the Ancient Mariner was fascinating, but I cannot stomach sitting through the archaic and outdated language and prose again.
I actually did really enjoy English in high school (but then I enjoyed high school overall for the most part), I just wasn't fond of the literature we had to read until my senior year.

I pointed out that we've destroyed enough on Earth, we might refrain from doing it to other places too. Yes, this might include not to live there.
I don't see why not, not like anyone else smart enough to care is on that dumb rock anyway.

I don't see why not ...
Simple answer: because we just don't know.
http://www.dailymail...anet-orbit.html
The world as we know it is one entity and we have no clue what happens if we make drastic changes. Maybe the presence of Mars is completely irrelevant, but maybe there's (indirect) impact on Earth. Just like exterminating a species and then finding out that it destabilizes Earth's fauna.
But, of course, for you or any person around currently it probably doesn't make a difference so why bother.

Didn't call them a "credible source of information". But they covered this topic alright, in a simple manner, and with a lot of pictures. I'm adjusting to BNS standards here, I though you'd appreciate. If you want scientific papers with a more profound coverage of the basics, I recommend Google Scholar as a starting point to find freely accessible papers.

No, you didn't, but you bothered linking them in the first place. Why else would you redirect to them if you didn't believe them to be credible or otherwise reliable?

Read above. It's written in a simple fashion, it covers the basic idea without going into distracting details, it's short, it was one of the first hits on Google that I got for what I was looking for, and the content is alright.
You know Chip, sometimes I wonder if you can ever be, you know, alright with something. I do understand your urge to be somewhat special and prove to others that you are capable, but don't even you sometimes get a bit funky and just want to enjoy yourself without being intentionally bothersome? This whole discussion here is a huge waste of time and has absolutely no point other than opposing me on principle. The sad thing is, you don't even have a stick to poke me with. Do you really find nothing better to do with your time? I admit, currently I really don't. I'm in a hotel room with a really poor internet connection, so my MMO shooter lags so bad it comes down to aimless blind fire. Hence, if you badly want to, we can go on. But could we at least pick an argument that is worth the effort?

And it's from a site that is known to literally invent stories to generate traffic.

I'm also not sure how the effect of Saturn's gravity on Earth ties in to the potential colonization and habitation of Mars.
You know Chip, sometimes I wonder if you can ever be, you know, alright with something.
Contrary to how it may seem... Yes. Yes, I can. As a matter of fact, I'm alright with a great deal of things. It's not my fault you appear to be incapable of discerning what those things are, or finding posts of mine that aren't disagreements.
I do understand your urge to be somewhat special and prove to others that you are capable, but don't even you sometimes get a bit funky and just want to enjoy yourself without being intentionally bothersome?
From where I'm sitting, you're the one taking more issue with me than I'm taking issue with... Anything. Every other post I see from you to me is another thinly-veiled insult and complaint.
This whole discussion here is a huge waste of time and has absolutely no point other than opposing me on principle.
Opposing someone "on principle" is how most discussions and debates are held, yes.
Also, you were the one who responded to me when I mentioned hypothetically visiting Mars. I wasn't the one who started it.
The sad thing is, you don't even have a stick to poke me with.
You're right, I don't. But you DO seem to have one with me.
Do you really find nothing better to do with your time?
Over the course of any given day, I might spend an hour, maybe an hour and a half on the BSN. I'll do some work or play a game or watch a movie or whatever, hop over here and check the threads I've followed and reply where I have an opinion to share, then go and do something else. If there are a lot of responses and posts coming in to a thread I'm looking at in a short span of time, I'll stick around longer to see what people are saying.
But could we at least pick an argument that is worth the effort?
I didn't really think it was an argument, but I guess it is now since you wrote up this whole paragraph which amounted to nothing more than an ad hominem.

It's not like we're gonna blow the rock up, that would take incredible amounts of energy we cannot muster. Teraforiming and digging would be rather harmless.

Maybe I remember wrong but he could have beaten him already if only he had pulled the trigger instead of hesitating...
And I don't know. I assume that if an assassin is forced to engage in CQC, he probably made a mistake earlier. So maybe fist fighting is not his biggest strength.
