I'll take Yvonne Strahovski's American-tinged Australian over a purebred Australian accent any day. In my experience, purebred Australian sounds like Cockney, only somehow less intelligent. 

 

Literally the only good thing I can think of in regards to the Australian accent is that it doesn't have that stupid rhyming slang that the Brits use. Unless I've just been missing it and it IS used, in which case I rescind this statement.
