I meant 'personal belief system'; Cassandra's can hardly be called a heuristic since she follows the rigid nonsense of the Chantry. Look at you, pointing out some typos instead addressing the points. Perhaps it should be called Grammar Nazi fallacy? Grammar Nazi Fallacy: A form of red herring, where the person must change the subject to spelling, instead of looking at the argument.

The character I intend to romance Cassandra with is a Trevelyan mage.

The thing is, I originally had wanted to save that for the day I finally get a PS4 so I can experience it with the proper graphics.

But then I started this playthrough on the PS3 anyway , telling myself I wouldn't go past the Haven chapter. You know, like a beta test.

But the temptation to romance Cass won out and I think I'll be going through with this after all.

So, what are the requirements to start the relationship for good? Flirting, high approval, doing the Guilty Pleasures quest... anything else?

Just high approval (with flirty dialogue) and the completion of her companion quest (Promise of Destruction, which becomes available after you begin Into the Abyss; Into the Abyss does not need to be completed). The usual. Approval with her is probably the easiest of any companion. So long as you don't actively antagonize her, she'll at least be your friend.

So I was browsing through the Cass tag on tumblr and was greeted by another of this "I headcanon that Cass isn't straight but cannot express her attraction to the F!Inquisitor due to her being under the homophobic influence of the Chantry which believes in the holy straightness of the relationship between Andraste and the Maker - Protect Bisexual Cassandra 2k15/2kXX" posts and I cannot help but wonder if some people are purposefully ignoring that Leliana is bisexual with a preference for women and Divine Justinia V/Dorothea was seduced by a woman (the scandal here being that Marjolaine actually used her to gain nefarious informations, not that they slept together) because it is easier for them to believe there is a homophobic conspiracy going through "conservative" Chantry leadership (which is set in Orlais, where it is canon that no one gives a damn about same-sex relationship. "But Mer', what about the scandal surrounding Florian and Meghren-!" some would protest; they were first cousins, which is a big no-no in Orlesian nobility. "But Mer', what about Briala and Celene?" other would argue; Briala was an elf - had she been human, no one would have cared.) than accepting that Cass is simply straight and doesn't return the F!Inquisitor's feelings.

It doesn't bother me at all that people use the mod and it doesn't bother me if they want to head-canon Cass as having a different sexuality. It's when you get comments like this one:

As if it is a fact and we are all just a bunch of misguided fools for accepting that she is straight, that it starts to get me pissed off.

 

I wrote Cass/Fem Inquisitor smut and I still don't head-canon her as bi.

More seriously, people can head-canon Cass as whatever they want or use that mod, good for them - I will simply blacklist their tags or block them and write a rant here, depending of my mood. It is however the hypocrisy of the explanation I have a hard time with. You cannot go around and write that the Chantry is intolerant toward same-sex relationships when Leliana is around, or when you know the past of Justinia.

No, really. All it is, is the fem inquisitor fantasizing about Cass. The fic ends with the same scene as in the game where Cass explains that she isn't into woman. And I still get my hot girl/girl action.

Do to the fact that I said "I prefer Geralt's heuristic(= personal belief) to life" (which implies that they would have to be opposites) over Cassandra's, and spent a lot of time explaining how they are "apples and oranges", I don't see why you wrote this response. Keeping up silly appearances? Cassandra is supposed to be someone who devotes herself to a greater good, yet worships the creature that cursed her world with the Darkspwan, and she never reflects on any of it, that is the problem. You saying that the Maker's punishment is absolved if he is described as a parent is absurd. Your analogy would be better if you said that the Maker is an 'abusive parent' that likes to have his children raped, tortured and mutated. But I guess that would make, "give this parent a free pass in court because he is a parent" sound even worse, wouldn't it? You saying that the Maker being a God makes said punishment only "a bit more sever" does not even begin to cover its outlandish severity (i.e. rape, forced cannibalism, mutation, and torture all for breaking and entering. Oh yes, all those people who weren't involved in the so called crime, get this punishment as well). Cassandra being a hapless child when it comes to life, is about the only good analogy you maid, except it was made to try and absolve Cassandra of her 'inability to think'. It doesn't. Don't make me explain this again.

Except the chantry teaches that the Maker didn't bring the darkspawn, the mages did.... All the maker did was send the humans back where they belonged. So...
