I get why they used that song for the trailer, if the leaks are anything to go by. It's to invoke a feeling of colonization and the taming of a new frontier, because I guess the new game involves colonizing the Andromeda galaxy (hence the title of the game, Mass Effect: Andromeda).

Why they end up leaving the Milky Way, who the **** knows. With the current known lore, there's no way they'd even be able to reach the Andromeda galaxy, so I predict it will be a stupid explanation, like a worm hole. It's easy, simple, and just vaguely known about in real life enough that Hack Walters can try to make it work.

Ok. That make sense.

They probably didn't want to have to deal with the Mass Effect 3 ending. The Milky Way would be so different because of our choice, and that probably would be so hard to put in the game. People would complain that their choice didn't matter, so focusing on a different part of the galaxy would be much easier. Have faith, we'll probably get a good explanation why. The humans will always figure out a way to be ahead of the other races.

It's not as if Andromeda would be any different. Either the Reapers are dead via Destroy and the relays end up being rebuilt (assuming one doesn't have low EMS) and the status quo is kept, the Reapers are under Shepard's control via Control and ultimately nothing has changed again, or the Reapers stay in Synthesis and help to rebuild the relays and everybody has circuit board skin, because genetics.

There isn't even a good reason to leave the Milky Way when 2 out of the 3 endings involve the relays being rebuilt (I'm sure Control!Shepard would help rebuild them in the Control ending as well, but I don't think it's outright confirmed if they do). Less than 1% of the Milky Way has been explored as per the Codex, so introducing the Andromeda galaxy serves literally no purpose whatsoever. It doesn't "get away" from anything, either the Reapers are gone or they aren't, changing the galaxy won't affect that at all. Either the relays are around or they aren't, and the different galaxy wouldn't have any effect on that either. Hell, if anything, if the relays still exist, that's a good reason to STAY in the Milky Way, since conventional FTL would take them centuries to get out of the galaxy, which is an impossible task as per the lore on how starships work.

But I'm sure Mac 'the Hack' Walters can explain that one. The ships still need to discharge the built up static electricity that accumulates from extended use of the ship's drive core, so good luck doing that out in the dark space between galaxies where there are no planets to discharge onto. Even if they do dig themselves out of that hole, there's still the whole "at least 2 generations of your family will be born, live a full life aboard this ship, and die" thing, since it would take a minimum of 2 and a half centuries to break the galactic rim (and even longer to actually travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda). It's a whole mess of logistics that the current lore in no way supports, but I'm sure they can pull it off. Mac is a genius when it comes to this sort of thing.

Considering that it's only the first day of press conferences we may hear about DAI DLC. It's happening, the VA's are recording lines according to Twitter, but its not huge news.

ME Andromeda makes me wonder if we're going to be playing as an Alliance Corsair? N7 guy isn't the PC according to EA and if anyone was going to be pulling off a transgalactic flight via wormhole/new FTL/Citadel Relay they would fit. Plus more exploration is always good.

What if a person does have low EMS? That part of honoring someone choice. The Reapers wouldn't be the only ones that got destroyed, and with that ending, there would be a big chance of Shepard still being alive. Everyone would be wondering where their Shepard was, and if a LI showed up, people would be wondering why the LI isn't with Shepard.

Synthesis seems like it would be way to complicated to carry over into the new game. They would have to alter every character appearance in the game, which would take up a lot of time that could be used for other parts of the game. But I'm wondering how the main character is going to look. Did they scrap all of the Mass Effect's endings? Or does the main character comes from a place that wasn't affected by someone who could have done the Synthesis?

You most likely know more of the Mass Effect's lore than I do.  :P

- Sera

- Iron Bull

I'm not surprised that Varric would have an opinion about it, ha ha.

He probably either thinks you're crazy or finds it impressive that you can handle her.

Maybe both.

What if a person does have low EMS? That part of honoring someone choice.

The only way anyone could have low EMS with the EC installed is if they skipped 60% of the game and played only the main campaign missions (e.g. if they played the game wrong). If they played any multiplayer, then getting a low-EMS ending is practically impossible with the EC. The only ending that has a low-EMS variation to it anyway is Destroy.

The Reapers wouldn't be the only ones that got destroyed, and with that ending, there would be a big chance of Shepard still being alive.

Shepard is dead in all endings save high-EMS Destroy, so no. And in the high-EMS version of Destroy, only the Reapers and technology derived from the Reapers is destroyed.

Synthesis seems like it would be way to complicated to carry over into the new game. They would have to alter every character appearance in the game, which would take up a lot of time that could be used for other parts of the game.

For designing and modeling a character in the new engine? That shouldn't be much work at all. All the art people would have to do is toggle a glowing green texture on the skin to make it resemble the circuit board look as seen in the ME3 slides. They wouldn't even need to make the texture twice, just apply it to every character by default, and tie a plot flag that reads the ME3 ending to the save file of ME:A, and if the flag is active, people have the green tint. If the flag is inactive, the texture doesn't glow.

But I'm wondering how the main character is going to look. Did they scrap all of the Mass Effect's endings? Or does the main character comes from a place that wasn't affected by someone who could have done the Synthesis?

This is something I hadn't really thought about. Assuming the new protagonist isn't from some Ark ship (please no) and was outside the galaxy before the end of ME3, they can potentially be affected. Knowing Hack Walters though, he'll probably do exactly what I said and do some idiotic Ark thing.

You most likely know more of the Mass Effect's lore than I do.

Mass Effect, Fallout, Bioshock, and Warcraft are my specialties.

Meh, I don't even care anymore, they made a mess with the lore already anyway. In the end it's all just "space magic" anyway.

None.

First making the Horde being lead by that moron, second making the 3 most unified race in the setting split apart because of that moron, making the Dragonmaw clan into villains again (and retconning the personality of Zaela, from accepting every race and being a reformist leader who supported the values of the new Horde into a racist moron), making a way to bring back the old Horde heroes and making them villains (not only in Warlords of Draenor, they already did it in Burning Crusade with Kargath Bladefist and the vanilla Wow with Blackrock and Dragonmaw clan).

But the real last straw was at the ending of Mist of Pandaria, Varian saying how he allowed the Horde to live but if they did something wrong he would come back and finish them. The Horde was finished to me, when a human tell it to them in the most powerful Horde city to their warlord and the only thing he can do is bow to his whim, I knew the Horde was finished.
