Does attraction ever make sense?
Cassandra is very compatible with me (and, by extension, most of my characters) but it just does not translate to me feeling passionate about her. It's like she's too compatible.
Then again, I am not real taken with many of the LI's in this series.
I get that. If I'm going to be happy with a romance arc, the two characters involved can't be too similar or I'm bored with it. I had a problem finding the right balance with Morrigan, because she doesn't like white knight types, but a romance between two ruthless characters was dull for me. I couldn't flesh out the player character to make it feel like a layered interaction.
My Cassmancer is like an anti-Cassandra in that he has absolutely none of her selflessness. Their politics and religious motives are compatible, but for different reasons. Cassandra has loyalty and integrity, and believes in the chantry and the maker out of faith. Agravain is loyal to the chantry, and "ardently" Andrastian, as a matter of political savvy.
Deep down, he doesn't really consider anything sacred. In fact, he never really cared about anything outside of himself until Cassandra.
