I think it's find for the GW to be antagonists in Inquisition. Having PC organizations clash with other PC organizations is interesting and add complexity to the setting.

And the Grey Wardens were never a squeaky-clean heroic group. Possible members aren't told what's going to happen, and then its 'drink this darkspawn blood (which will likely kill you) or I'll kill you.'

It's not something I have a problem with when I get to choose which side I'm on. Given that we are playing the Inquisition, I have to assume that should the two factions class, we're inevitably going to win, and that's not a story that appeals to me; i.e., I'd rather have the Warden's win. Well, I'd rather have the two factions join forces, primarily because I can't think of a good reason why they wouldn't in this situation, (Hey, guys, I know you're all about fighting Blights, but there won't be a blight for another couple hundred years and what we've got going on here is like a blight on steroids. Mind giving us a hand?), but should the two clash, I just have the emotional attachment to the Wardens.

And it's very true that the Wardens have a dark side, which is part of what I like about them. I'm sure the Inquisition will, to, if only because in my play through I'll be intentionally and incharacter modeling it off the Wardens, but that's just all the more reason why I don't want to see the wardens loose to a shoddy knock off of themselves.

Fair enough. Still cool to have a dev jump in to discuss with us as often as you do.

I find special snowflake, in my own application, applies more to the realities that the player character, and the party members, tend to be rather unique and exceptionally capable individuals compared to much of the population, by virtue of being tied to the narrative.

The player character tends to be the most special snowflake, by virtue of being the one that resolves the principle conflicts in the game.

True.

She voiced Cassandra in DA2 but would she do it again in Inquisition?

The Dragon Age Wiki has her listed as such.

A shoddy knockoff!? :crying:

That was more a knock at myself; since I'll be modeling my Inquisitor's behavior off of a Warden mentality, I imagine it as being a shoddy knock off.

There is, of course, a lingering fear in the back of my mind that the Wardens are just being primed to fall victim to the Worf Effect; that they're going to be on the receiving end of a beating to make someone else look better. If that someone turns out to be the Inquisition itself, I might very well end up mentally turning on my own faction.

Ah!  So once you realize that the Inquisition has become the new power in the galaxy Thedas, the truth will be revealed to you.  Good to know! ;)

Woah I leave this thread for a day and suddenly Dalish happens. Odd. I thought I had accidentally stumbled into the religion thread again.

At any rate, I'm interested to see how they deal with the whole Hawke thing. I realize that Varric and Cass don't exist just to reference the last game, but they did originally meet because Cassandra was looking for him/her. I imagine it'll just be a couple of intentionally vague conversations between the two, but it would probably feel weird if it never came up.

The Grey Wardens never grabbed my imagination. If they wanted to do their job, they'd train for centuries, show up during a Blight, and fade into the background once the Blight was over. While I know BioWare would get endless grief for this, I think it would have been better if they'd been built up like the Witchers: apolitical monster hunters who were also the only group to figure out how to slay an archdemon.

Then they'd have reason to mill around Thedas as low-level background noise. Instead, they come off as a BIG, IMPORTANT organization (like the Jedi and SPECTREs) who spend the vast majority of time doing nothing but patrol the deep roads.

The Inquisition can be a big, important organization that has every reason to run around constantly doing big, important things.

I suppose it will come up in one way or another. I mean, the Dalish Warden was mentioned in a banter between Merrill and Anders, so I can see the same happening in Inquisition with Varric and Cassandra.

Cassandra has done many other famous things in her past than just looking for Hawke, so I don't think she will talk much about him/her, but Varric is known for being the Champion's buddy. You can't even begin to explain what he is doing there without mentioning Hawke in one way or another, even if it's just a vague reference.

According to this post, we are going to visit Nevarra.

The chance of meeting with some of Cassandra relatives increased by a lots.

Good news! So not only is Nevarra confirmed, but Orlais, Ferelden, the Dales and the Free Marches too. More than enough for our multinational team to seek revenge/forgiveness/closure/whatever.

I do want to know Cassandra's family. I mean, dragons are coming, and they're the best dragon hunters in the world. Can't they give us some advice about how to bring them back to extinction, please?

Bummer for you then huh?

Given that all our prior interactions with Dragons for the most part result in their deaths, and given Gaider killed them being sentient well...There you go.

I agree. Although they are magnificent creatures, the fact is that they have this nasty habit of burning down and eating people.

Then Alistair and Cassandra could found the Royals Who Never Wanted To Be Royals Club :D

Cassandra seemed like she may be the black sheep of the family, given how she chose her own path. I'm not certain how her family will respond to her; I could imagine the return of the dragons may very well be a topic of discussion among them.

I wonder if her personal quest may involve helping support a new ruler for the kingdom.

I don't know. I let the dragon at the Urn keep napping, we've spoken with enough friendliness to Flemeth, and I got a prayer from Dumat answered. But if they're not sapient, they're just animals and part of the ecosystem, and I don't want to see them going extinct anyway.

You do realize, it could have been the demons at the Altar granting rewards and punishments right?

Not Dumat, and i don't consider the Shape Shifter a dragon in truth.

Their return may have been part of the plan of Flemeth and Yavana, given the deal that was brokered with Maric. Yavana did say that the blood of the dragons was the blood of the world. “In destroying what it does not understand, mankind would destroy itself.”

Perhaps this could lead to a source of friction with Cassandra if the Inquisitor is afforded the opportunity to help in their plan (with the reverse being to oppose it entirely).

It could have been. The Maker could also be false. The divine is a mystery.

That too. I do hope we learn more.
