Cassandra seemed like she may be the black sheep of the family, given how she chose her own path. I'm not certain how her family will respond to her; I could imagine the return of the dragons may very well be a topic of discussion among them.

I wonder if her personal quest may involve helping support a new ruler for the kingdom.

Black sheep? Well, maybe, but since neither her nor her brother were princes, my guess is that they come from a secondary branch of the Pentaghast family. You know, like those pesky relatives in your court in Crusader Kings II. You don't want them to hold lands because they can try to revolt against you, but you don't want them dead either because they're a fail-safe in case your main line dies off.

Now that I think about it, the main line dying off is precisely part of the current Nevarran succession crisis.

It happened to the Franks!

:( It heralded the end of their final Dynasty that ripped their little Empire apart.

The pope declaring their successors was just the final nail in the coffin.

It happened to me in several playthroughs in CKII! :(

The old Pentaghast is going to die soon, his brother Ferdinand isn't interested in succeeding him and neither the king nor Ferdinand have children. There are several options this can play out...

Imagine, you choose Ferdinand but in the epilogue says he died after the game and Nevarra fell into civil war. Or you choose the Van Markham and they purge the Pentaghast line. Or you take a third option (wasn't hinted in WoT that some people ask for a new family to take over the kingdom, not the Pentaghast and the Van Markham again?

Maybe they will ask you to perform a matrilineal marriage. Your Inquisitor may need to change his family name to Pentaghast ;)

Someone just understood what is happening in Nevarra. Although, I'm not sure about Cassandra getting on the throne.

In DA2, there is an armor set who tell the story of a former contender to the Nevarran's throne, but that he was rejected because he was too pro-Chantry and ended up joining the Legion of the Dead (yet his armor is found a little everywhere in Act1...including close to the primeval thaig). Now, there is something really fishy about this story, because WoT list it on the timeline, but it says, unlike the game codex, that he wasn't a true Pentaghast.

Cassandra is pious and she have been working out of Orlais for years now...

Wouldn't care.

I'd marry into nobility if even if i had to take my spouses name personally :(

I miss our family not having a modern title.

I felt nothing for Morrigan in DAO. Didn't care about her voice unlike many people, and her face didn't touch me. It's once I discovered her personality that I felt in love, like always with me anyways. I feel it might be the same with Cassandra. :)

Didn't like her in dawn of the seeker. Being a badass character is more about the writting than killing two or three dragons in one fight for me. She didn't impress me in that anime. I liked her in DAII however.

this line is what makes me think I will like Cassandra :

She is outwardly rigid and rarely shows any emotion, save anger and aggression. Sharp, pious, and driven, she is the sword in the right hand of the Divine, seeking justice above all else.

Can't wait to learn more.

I hope we get a few more "mild" characters. The most we know about two of our new companions, Cassandra and Vivienne, is that they're both rigid, end-justifies-the-means, devoted to their causes, and little else. It's also speculated Vivienne is manipulated and diabolical in some of her intentions.

Besides Varric, the new cast of companions is beginning to lack on general likeability, for me. Likeability for their characters and character design, yes, but not likeability as in "My Inquisitor will probably want to drive a sword through these people before it's all over."

You're saying it like that would be a bad thing :P

I don't know. I let the dragon at the Urn keep napping, we've spoken with enough friendliness to Flemeth, and I got a prayer from Dumat answered. But if they're not sapient, they're just animals and part of the ecosystem, and I don't want to see them going extinct anyway.

Lol

Bummer for you then huh?

Given that all our prior interactions with Dragons for the most part result in their deaths, and given Gaider killed them being sentient well...There you go.

He killed them being able to talk, not them being sentient creatures. And we have seen that they are more intelligent than dumb animals.

Lol

That sort of reminds me of a joke about a Western European lecturing an African hunter for killing a lion that was starting to get a taste for human flesh.

There's a difference between killing one lion and obliterating a whole species.

I wouldn't expect news on the LI department until (at least) August.

Given what Yavana said, dragons could be quite important, so they may be essential in a way we don't yet realize.

I don't expect news on it at all, considering they've never confirmed romances until after release.

I personally compared them to Mabari in term of intelligence.

There was certainly a reason that the Hall of Sleepers was created.

Or it could be more inconsistent hyperbole from a swamp witch.
