Oh, I'm sure gifts are still around. What would be a good gift for Cassandra? A whetstone? A new sheath for her sword? She doesn't seem to be the fluffy type... at least not open about it.

I'm not so sure about that last one. For one, they did it with Leliana, and second Cassandra seems to have put the Chantry aside for the greater good. Mind you, I said the Chantry, not her faith or the Divine. Faith and religion are two very different animals.

Not quite. Leliana has a different interpretation of the Maker himself while Cassandra has a different interpretation of the Chantry. Here, her profile sheds some light on this.

She put the Seekers aside and aligned herself with the Chantry and the DIvine.

 

Even though she is now part of the Inquisition, I doubt she'd have problems with the Chantry itself, unless they elect a new Divine who's agenda is the opposite of Justinia's policies, which both Leliana and Cassandra support.

True, it would be strange to have her like the same gifts as Leliana, but then again, Leliana is not a companion this time around and we don't know if advisors can be given gifts like companions can. If it turns out that they can, then Chantry related items should be reserved for Leliana.

It's hard to say what exactly is Cassandra's interpretation of the Maker. We are talking about someone who jumped off a cliff saying that her survival was up to the Maker. Which is both crazy and goes against the official absentee god dogma of the Chantry...

 

Her affiliation to the Chantry seems to be based on "they were the best fit to keep order", it was more practical than religion based.

As a serious gift, i would give her a dagger. One with a really, really good blade that holds an edge well. Light on the ornamentation, maybe have the handle be leather-wrapped bone and the scabbard be embossed with the Pentaghast family crest. It's very practical, as a good knife is every warriors best friend even today. Yes, better than their weapon even. And you can also tell that it was made with her in mind so its not like you are giving her just a tool to do a job with. Giving a unique gift like that would be a very suble way of showing your feelings without talking about them
