It would be interesting to see what would provoke Cassandra into leaving the inquisition, if at all. Not something I'm striving for but would still be interesting.
I suspect that won't be possible. We know one companion cannot leave and she's seems like the best fit. In a way, she has been presented in the same fashion has the advisors: her goals are the Inquisition's goals. While all the other companions have their own personal goals/agenda.
She also balances the advisors: Josephine and Leliana are the spying diplomatic appear nice side, while Cassandra and Cullen are the more forceful military straight forward side. She is even displayed with them in the "Meet the Heroes" trailer.
