This is not how it should have been.

For DA2, for DAO it was more unique. Like Morrigan romance vs Morrigan frienship

DA:O and ME1 were new entries to a series so they weren't as scrutinized as much as later entries because they're setting the precedence for things to come.

Personally I found DAII to be fine, Hawke having a VA made the romances much better than the DA:O's in my opinion even if the DA:O had more dialogue and options within them.

Quick question which has probably already been asked a million times (apologies in advance for that): is Cassandra only romanceable by a noble Inquisitor, or can you be a mage/rogue? I was getting conflicting reports amid the flurry of info yesterday.

I'm 99.99% sure she will be available to any male Inquisitor regardless of class and race.

OMG that fanart(nicely done) people can be so overdramatic about it and that is more sad than the image itself.

Why, thank you; you stoke the flames of my rage most efficiently.

It's a poor choice because Cassandra had a substantial fanbase of women who wanted to romance her, women to get their hopes up about the romance, who for IRL reasons would have really appreciated that romance, and who in the end were essentially dismissed (regardless of whether Bioware did it in a nice way).

Whether or not friendship was rewarding, the fact that Cassandra was such a hot ticket item - especially since DA2, where she built up this fanbase - is what makes this a poor choice by Bioware.

The same with Cullen, actually, and his M/M fanbase.

I completely understand it for Cassandra but the M/M fanbase for Cullen should of got the hint back in 09 when he didn't show interest in the male mage Warden. Also, it's not wrong to make her straight, it's wrong to make a character a certain orientation to appease a certain demographic over choosing what the writer wants to do creatively.

Then it would behoove Gaider to explain his creative choices, no?

I've given my sympathizes and hugs already to those who wanted a FXF with Cassandra but lets not turn this into another Sera debacle it wont change anything just ask the angry dudes who wont be getting any Elf Loving who before hand were raging across the threads with torches and Mountain Dew in hand. Sorry if it wasn't the most polite of responses.

Knowing Gaider it would go something like "Because I felt like it" and the discussion would end, which is not an entirely invalid stance, it's just one that really upsets me.

I'd like to point out here that I don't think making Cassandra straight is a bad choice.

I would like the character who appears to be very important to the plot be available for both men and women to romance, but disagree that popularity or notoriety or butchness should determine a character's sexual orientation.

It sucks, but I don't think BioWare has done something wrong.

Again, this is why Maria is ****** queen of BSN! She is respectable, opinionated, charismatic, hilarious and intelligent and respectable!

I don't think that the writer's have made any decisions about sexualities based on fan base. It is disappointing when people don't get the opportunity to romance who they wanted to, and I'm sorry for those people - they have every right to express their disappointment, but I'm not sure it's helpful to start accusing Devs of having ulterior motives when writing characters.

Bioware hasn't done anything wrong, or at the very least, if they have, it's much too soon to start badgering them about it without more information.

I'm reasonably confident we have some that work here.  But I mean, I didn't realize David was gay until very recently myself, so I suspect they fit the "look like a human being" to me so....

Same. I never even picked on him being gay.

Yes, so the question becomes "How annoying can we become to make his giving more of an explanation the more pleasant prospect?"

Look, guys, I get that you are disappointed, I really do. I felt the same way when Avelin turned out to be non-romancable (as I am sure many of you did). But could we not act like her being straight is wrong, it raises a mountain of unfortunate implications I don't want to see in my cassandra fanbase.

Believe me when I say that I would much rather get a mature dialogue with the writer going.

Oh, hell yeah having a voiced protagonist made romances better but the romances weren't unique when you compare a male Hawke with Isabella and a female Hawke with Isabella and so on. DAO had unique romances.

He wont and he doesn't have to. Even if he did, why would it matter? She's still not romanceable for women.

I have a quick question for you, a little off the topic of Cassandra, do you even plan on exploring a romance with Josephine or Sera?

I wouldn't say trolling, per se. Simply continuing to express unhappiness.

Most definitely. I hadn't even wanted to romance Cassandra. I'm angry on the fanbase's behalf in general and my girlfriend's in particular.

What could he say that would not make the situation worse? You're going to criticize any explanation or rationalization he offers.

And trolling is conductive to that?

She's not trolling. However, if you have an issue with her posts, you can always report them.
