It's a nice low bar to have, but it's not perfect. You're right though, it's amazing how many screen writers can't even pass it though, which is really bad...

Exactly. It isn't a perfect test by any means. A film with a strong lead female, but with no other females in the cast would fail the test. (Gravity, for example, fails.)

I watch TV shows more than movies. Seems like women don't get reduced to that as much. A lot of things I watch are ensemble type of stories.. so there's plenty opportunity for women to interact with each other. But it's all business or plot related. I could gather 20 years of Star Trek alone (TNG, Voyager, and DS9), and women aren't like that. They're just people.

The Bechdel test is about films. There's better representation on TV to be sure, but it's by no means perfect either.

Television as a whole also has slightly more women in creative roles like writing, directing and producing. Film and TV are both still very much a boys club, I know this because I've worked in both (as if it wasn't obvious.)

Exactly!

It's nice to be understood. :D

Seriously though.. I'm sympathetic to just about everything Lambert discussed. Except his trying to depose the Divine. Everything he actually said though were standard Chantry beliefs. I'll start from this point of view. It'll be interesting how much chips away over time (if at all).

Meh, way I see it, the Divine cast the first stone when she sent her agents to kill his men. Lambert's decision was a reactionary one.

For real? Like on a TV crew or movie crew?

And you never watched Xena? :D

Or did I misread that earlier...

Cool! Didn't realize you'd worked in TV and movies. That wasn't obvious to me. That's really cool  ^_^

A time of myth and legends with the cheesiest tv-shows ever created :D

Anyone else think Cass could do with a headband or a bandana if she insist on fighting without a helmet? Having your hair get in to your eyes in the middle of a fight sucks. Sweaty hair sucks even more >.<   Aveline and Isabela had the right idea :)

She solves that problem by keeping her hair cut short.

Well, it looks long enough to reach the eyes. And I just noticed that she IS wearing a headband when she is stabbing that poor, innocent map :D

Makes sense with her being a warrior to keep her hair short

The problem with long hair is that it makes a great handle (regardless of whether it is tied back or not). :P Also, a bare head makes a great target for a sword or a hammer or an axe. I would think a headband or bandanna would also be a point of weakness - tear it off someone with loose hair, and you've effectively hindered your opponent.

Sensible Cass would probably wear a helmet.

(Yeah, it's a game... I never play with helm graphics on, because most helms look stupid. But stupid or not, a helmet is a necessary part of melee fighting.)

I agree, Cass would wear a helmet. Not sure if the game allows it though. And the people who design helmets for fantasy games should be made to wear their creations in real life for a day, in public, before the design gets approved for the game.

I'm pretty sure there will be an option to have Cassandra wear a helmet.

cass does wear a headband, if you look hard enough in some of the side pics, you will see she has one that is the same color as her hair

I don't think the designers are always going for 100% works out in real life though.  A large part of desigining is style due to Dragon Age not trying to be a realistic medieval simulator or something along those lines.

Yeah, as a PA, set photographer and also location scouting work. Nothing super fancy, but I enjoy it.

I would go into more detail but if I did it would kind of give away the general area in which I live and I'm not super comfortable with that, haha.

Of course. Which is why I'm not overly harsh about the lack of helmets. :) I was just saying that a sensible warrior, which I believe Cass to be, would wear one, if this was reality. :D

Personally, I would turn helm graphics off, because I'd much rather see her face (and my character's, and everyone else's).

I'm pretty sure Cassandra has had enough small doses of being stabbed in the face that now she's basically immune to head wounds.

I actually had a weird habit of this with some games where I would always activate my helmet if I figured I'd be in a combat scenario, but disable it if the mission was basically 'Go to a bar.  PIck this up.' even if I knew it would lead to a fight.....sorta role-playing I suppose.

Speaking of blocking blows with your face...How awesome would it be if we could spar with our companions at Skyhold? Or watch companions spar eachother? Cass vs, Iron bull, anyone? :D

My rogue would rather spar with Cass herself. To check her technique and all that.
