I know I might be unpopular for saying this, but I kind of feel that she should be race-gated. I just can't picture Cassandra having a relationship with a Qunari or Dwarf. Then again, I find most of the inter-species romances in Bioware games kind of bizarre.

If she was race gated, they would've mentioned that.  I think it's pretty safe to assume that she has pretty broad tastes in men.

Nah, but she has a taste for broad men...

I'm not so sure. Her and Cullen were announced in "panic mode" at PAX East, it wasn't part of the reveal plan. It was a "drop" because Cullen VA already leaked the info for his character. If nobody had asked in the Raptr chat, we wouldn't even know she was straight today.

I don't think any of the monosexual people are going to be racegated, let alone class gated.

The reason for the gating was development time, even race-gated bisexual takes more dev time. They gated the characters that made sense story-wise to race-gate, they didn't add in more bisexuals just to race-gate them.

I would imagine in Cassandra's particular case, she was one of the earliest romance concepts.

That doesn't mean anything, early inquisitor concept was human only which means all the early romance concepts were targeting humans. Race-gated appeared once they added race options for the Inquisitor. They re-organized the romance last summer after adding in race-gating and Cassandra was rewritten in August...

The only thing that make Cassandra "safe" from race-gating is that she appears to be the only straight women in the Inquisition advisors/companion pool.

My read is that the 2 race gated companions mentioned are those who have not yet been announced.  Cassandra's been out as a LI for awhile, therefore she's not race gated.

I have trouble playing as straight men, so she's the one companion I won't be romancing, but I really like her as a character. I look forward to getting to know her.  :)

That was my take as well, although I kind of agree with a previous post that I can't picture her cuddling up with a Qunari.

Maybe she's a BAMF in the streets, Nd a freak in the sheets o.0

Why does cuddling with a qunari make her kinky? Qunari are basically just tall, muscular dudes.

It was just a joke. I mostly can't see her with one because of the Kirkwall history, and I would thnk she has a bias towards them. But I personally see Qunari as almost like a human/animal cross. Almost like a Minotaur.

Right, that makes sense. I actually think Dorian might be more likely with the history with Tevinter if it's going to be one of the one of the companions who isn't bi.

Could be. Hopefully we will hear something at the romance panel this weekend :)

On what basis would Cassandra be unwilling to be in a relationship with a vashoth qunari? If the issue is religion (unlikely, as the qunari inquisitor is vashoth and may even possibly have the option to be andrastian), then also potentially rules out the dwarf and elf (dalish) inquisitors.

If it were the case, I don't think it would matter that the qunari is vashoth, just that they're a qunari if she has a bias from the previous game. Essentially, having a preconceived notion about qunari based off of prior experiences and seeing any and all qunari under that same perception - regardless if them being an individual. Easily put, being a bit racist.

Random question: How do you expect Cassandra will interact with the Inquisitor professionally, seeing as how she is kind of the founder of the organization and likely second in command? I imagine she will be quite bossy and possessive until the Inquisitor (this random stranger she greeted by putting a sword to their neck) gains her respect.

Cass has always come across (to me at least) as someone who respects authority.  In public she would be nothing less then respectful to the Inquisitor, her superior officer.  In private I would imagine she would be much more willing to challenge a decision she did not agree with.

I don't think Cassandra has issues with Qunari, Iron Bull is one of the companion she sees eye to eye with and he is full Qunari.

Also, in MoTA, she didn't seem to have anything special to say about them from what I remember. She only corrected Varric on his assumption that Qunari is a race (which also shows that she knows more about the Qun than most Thedasian).

She's going to be bossy even if she has your respect, she's just going to be less vocal and polite about it. Well, I hope, she was totally take charge in DotS and I hope it stays like that, but I fear we are going to get the "for the greater good I'm going to be all beta and mellow for you, Inquisitor".

Lots of people don't like party members who upstage them and seems to be more in charge than they are. It hurt their "player agency" perception (even if technically player agency doesn't even mean what they think it means).

Could be. I don't necessarily think that equals romantic acceptance of a race, but it definitely is a step closer to the idea that it's possible :)

I definitely think the inquisitor is gonna have to initiate it first. I seriously doubt Cassandra will be the first one that starts to flirt.

She could surprise you and find you very charming and make hints at having an interest in  you.

Is Iron Bull even Qunari? I thought he was the wayward son, renegade Amish kid of the Qunari. If that's the case, of course she might get along with him.

Iron Bull just enjoy his undercover work too much. ;)

I considered that as well. He's either Donnie Brasco. Or Randy Quaid in Kingpin.

We'll see.
