We don't really know anything about Cassandra's physique because she's well armoured.

Ideally she'd be a bit more muscular than the standard female model in Bioware games has been.

I think the lacking/persistent female models in BioWare's games was mainly due to software and memory issues.

Which is why I'm hoping that, given the various improvements made and all this talk about larger, explorable areas and such, they'll be able to have a unique model for most, if not all the various races and/or roles.

So no more stick-ladies, muscle-men, fat-bar-guys and Sten model limitations! (Hurray!)  ^_^

I do agree with this. My only complaint with the female combatants in Dragon Age games is that they have no muscle definition at all. I hope they do a Mikasa with Cassandra and actually give her some abs, though she will almost certainly just have the same skinny build as all the other female humans. The only thing I think we will actually get is muscular female Qunari.

Muscle definition yes, but I dont know about the Mikasa-esc washboard abs. In my experience that only comes from a very specific diet, among other things.  Something that I don't think a person would have the luxury of doing in the world of AOT or Dragon Age.

Do we know if companions are getting unique bodies in DA:I?

It's possible Cassandra will end up with whatever the default female human body is.

Equality on the physical/strength level between women and men would also mean equal physical stature. Male and female should have the same body structure then. That or either male have a lot of fluff in their body or women are hard as rock.

I hated Cassandra in DA2, not sure why just did. However the name Pentaghast is literally the coolest last name I've ever heard

Racist.  <_<

I apologize if I have offended. The pic was a humorous way to refer to the excesses that appear often in Japanese animation. To make Cassandra look cooler, she needed to beat a large bunch of mooks and then dragons. That in spite of such large blood mage cults not appearing in the lore so far, or dragons being a rare sight in theory (until the Veil Tears, it seems). The direction of the film took a decision that may have made the fights more interesting, but also makes people wonder how the situation can fit in the known lore (like the army of golems).

I have nothing against anime (f someone recognized my avatar they would understand it), but Dawn of the Seeker wasn't my cup of tea. I don't think that style of anime suited it. Far from me to imply that criticism affects the whole Japan, so, again, I'm sorry if I offended.

It sound cool because it is similar to Pendragon (it means "head dragon" and was a title in ancient Britain). The only difference here is that the beasties in the name are these things.

And now you can wonder why the most annoying tribe-like creatures in Thedas is in the clan name of what appear to be the most badass family in all Thedas.

I didn't expect that relation. I haven't played Mark of the Assassin, thus my ignorance about the ghasts (where do they come from?), but the shout-out to the Pendragon family name is very interesting. Maybe the Pentaghast's ancestors were famous for killing ghasts before dragons? Or maybe it was something else?

Château-Haine is in Nevarra, which is why I always find it weird that it belonged to an Orlesian noble. Tallis mention this about it: The Montfort family inherited this mountain from a clan of Nevarran dragon-hunters. Well, maybe inherited is the wrong word. What do you call it when you kill someone in order to get all their stuff? Although, the codex claims that the Monfort got the fortress form the Wardens after the 4th Blight (which is weirder because it was in Nevarra/Free Marches lands and never in Orlais).

I have various theories about the name though, it's sort of a small hobby of mine. It goes from one of their enemy called them that to humiliate them and they rolled with it, to ghast actually meaning tribe/clan in another language and Penta is actually the important part (and wouldn't mean 5 because Thedas has no Greek). Hopefully, Cassandra will tell us the origin of the name.

Isn't it a little anachronistic to be so stringent about applying national communities and boundaries to the Thedosian aristocracy, which has been depicted in game to be nearly as ecumenical as the medieval European aristocracy was?

It's not strange. As Eirene has pointed out, you're thinking in national-states terms, not in feudal terms. The "killing to inherit some land" is more than plausible (ah, CKII and his option to assassinate people whose titles you can inherit, great game). If they did get the castle from the Wardens, maybe the Monfort ancestor helped them a lot in the Fourth Blight?

And I'm checking it again, but isn't Chateau Haine in the Free Marches? I thought it was near Nevarra, but still Free Marches territory.

Too bad it doesn't reflect in their family's crest, boring human skull instead. 5 ghasts would be interesting as a heraldic emblem, to say the least.

Since their appearances differ it's apparently the case of the latter, probably minus that hyperbole. Whatever reasoning is used to justify it the equality is its end result, and it makes complaints about women in the role of warriors and/or tanks in Thedas somewhat less "realistic" silly.

(could also be simple case of game having only single body model for each gender, so they can't vary it based on individual's actual physical strength -- case in point, all the hulked up male mages with the stature identical to that of the strongest warriors, even though their stats indicate vast difference in that regard)

The crowned skull is Nevarra heraldry, I'm not sure if it is the one of the Pentaghasts or not. It is possible that the Pentaghast heraldry is just the skull and the crown was added afterward when they gained the throne (which is usually what happened in real-life). I'm not sure how deep the artist went with this though.

I also wonder what a stylized ghast would look like now.

Mm, I would like to know more about Thedosian heraldry. I've checked the wikia and some symbols are easy to guess (Wardens, Tevinter, Templars, Seekers, Inquisition), but others not so much, including the Nevarran one. Does anybody have the explanation for that skull?

According to OXM, we're going to the capital of Navarra, which is Cumberland.

Hmm, Nevarra (city) is the capital of Nevarra. Cumberland is just the largest city in the country (and of all of Thedas too).

Does anybody have the explanation for that skull?

In real life, depending on the ethnicity, the skull (sometimes called death's head) means: death, mortality, afterlife and soul. Although, in modern time it also means non-conformist and rebellious. Going by what we know of Nevarra, I'll go for the old meaning personally. ;) They sure like death there.

Cumberland sounds like cucumber. What's the name of a small cucumber? A Kirby.

Mary will be doing most of the writing for Nevarra. Semi-confirmed rumor.

um, hi! :) I don't usually post in these sorts of discussions, but I wanted to chip in and say that Cassandra is absolutely the character I am most looking forward to in Inquisition. From what I've seen so far, she's got a very cool attitude, she's a great fighter, and she seems like an all-around tough person. And she broke down that keep gate by herself in the demo. That's probably the most attractive thing I've ever seen a woman do (And she's not even real /cry).

I also wanted to give my respects to the artists: A lot of thought and care went into her physical design and her armor suits that we've seen so far. That dedication and effort is not only captivating, but also inspiring.
