I thought it was some kind of padding for wearing helmets. I'm not sure if that is a thing, but that is the way I rationalized it when I saw it.

well, considering the only person we have encountered up to this point who raised the whole "he doesnt follow andraste, he must die cause hes a heathen," was petrice in da2... i really dont see this game addressing any religious issues when the templars and mages are destroying stuff, celene and gaspard cant stop fighting, and demons raining down. Plus bioware has been really good about making the romances really neutral in terms of beliefs. So i doubt we will have to have any sort of tie to the chantry to romance her

Speaking of Cassandra, what is that band thing on the back of her head ? I cannot believe I just noticed it now.
Is it a headband ? Or a hairband ? Why is she wearing them though ? Her hair is short so it does not actually need a band, even though it looks cool and rather hippy.

True. I guess in the twenty years after anime, she decided the pony tail was more trouble than it was worth.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing that when her character kit was first released. I guess she wraps her ponytail around her head or something.

The hearts on her armor could stand for anything, but reflecting our own historical period, during the classical and medieval times hearts were considered the seat of thought, reason or emotion. So that could play to Cassandra's personality a bit.
