Yes. That's the thing about resource allocation: if you want X then you need to give up Y.
Race-gating means more LIs. Removing race-gating means losing one of the LIs.
I'm selfish enough to be okay with this ![]()

But Josephine isn't race-gated, so I don't get why the choice is that.
I still think race-gating would've worked with 6 LIs, sure one or two races might lose some options but meh

Let's try this again: would you be willing to drop your favorite LI if it meant no gating? Because Josephine or IB alone would free up eight sets of cutscenes.
I don't know ... I think race-gating makes sense in some situations.
I can't picture Cassandra romancing a Qunari for political and religious reasons.
Also, some pairings are just plain creepy. Let's match up a 4 foot tall dwarf with a 7 foot tall, 300 pound Qunari. Sure, nothing weird about that ....
So she's racist? Oh yeah, having racist companions sure is a positive. Everyone knows we can use more racism. Especially the "we can't change their opinions" kind. /sarcasm
Meaning?
I was thinking along something that wouldn't interfere with wearing armor so it couldn't have straps that dug into the body when the person sweated, and i doubt she cares much for color so it would likely be plain so yeah.
Standard white strapless and unobtrusive undies
Pretty much like what you described. If I had to choose, maybe cloth wrapped around her so that it offers the positives of wearing undergarments without the negatives.

I never got the hype about aging oxman, i would more then willing to cut him ![]()
I'd only be happy with race-gating if it was solely against humans. Otherwise it just gives players less incentive to play as the other races... there are already enough reasons to not want to pick qunari, elves, and dwarves. At this point there doesn't seem to be any drawback to picking humans... and that's fine but it makes the concept of multiple races fairly pointless (aside from rping an outsider, I guess).
Race gating Cassandra seems arbitrary. Yeah, it could lead to a great romance tale, but so could making her open-minded.

That's still not a real valid offer though. A more accurate one would be:
"Would you be willing to sacrifice Iron Bull to being available to Dwarves and Elves for Varric to be made an LI?"

You don't like having additional perks to being an AOE dealing badass? Go with elf mage, Natural resistance to Magic? Dwarves.
We just talking gameplay at the moment though, I mean seriously in terms of PC interaction with the world, its unique to every one of them and that's part of the immersion actually made me enjoy DAO.
There are drawbacks and positives to going with any of the races, and i expect DAI to follow up with its Predecessors Legacy.

What happened to playing other races for experiencing different things besides just romance content?
That's the exact same exchange. If you want to gain an LI, you need to impose race-gating. If you want to drop race-gating then you need to lose an LI.
It's easy to advocate a lack of race-gating when it's someone else's LI on the chopping block.
I don't see it as the same, since I'm arguing that race-gating shouldn't be included, which means the LI in question is not an LI yet and a current LI had to sacrifice being un-racegated. Your offer meanwhile was removing an un-racegated LI completely.
So to use two of my favorite LIs as the examples, if it was "Would you make Josephine race-gated to allow Leliana to be a LI?", as much as I love Leliana and want her as an LI in DAI I'd say no.
MrJB wrote a good post about how race-gating can be positive.

Things like what? We have 4 voice actors that are shared between all possible characters, and 3 dialogue tones... there are no racial abilities, no unique specs or fighting styles. Aside from somebody occasionally saying, "hm... fancy meeting a Qunari here," I don't see a lot of variation between the races to begin with.

They took away the racial benefits of being that race?
._. When did that happen?

Laidlaw said racial benefits are still in, last I heard.

Last time I heard racial abilites were still in the game, I also recall the Dalish Mage getting certain skills exclusive to them (could be wrong), alternate dialogue and reaction to your race is still a valid thing

Why do players need to be given an incentive to play the other races?
Bioware included the race options because they were an highly requested feature. Altough the majority of players may choose a human, the other races have a loyal fanbase or there would be no reason for Bioware to bring it back.
So, why care about the number of players that pick human?

Wonder what the Benefit for Qunari is...

It's less about incentive and more about punishment. Humans are already going to be the most favored race. They don't need to be the most rewarded on top of it all. It's unfair and dumb.

You mean besides being a 7 foot tall horned monster?

I look forward to finding out, probably higher physical resistance

Bioware never said anything about being fair, only that players would have atleast 2 options
You mean besides being a 7 foot tall horned monster?
They're not monsters! They're a magnificent and exquisite people!

Bioware has said there is a point in the game where it will be nearly impossible to complete as a Qunari.
My money is on socializing at the ball at Halamshiral if winning the hearts and minds of the nobles earns you an achievement.
I imagine a human noble would have troubles earning the trust of Briala's elves.
Most of these variations may be window dressing; after all, I could earn the allegiance of the elves as easily as a Human Noble as I could as a Dalish Elf; and I would not be opposed to race playing a more important role, but isn't that the whole point of choosing a different race? People reacting to your in different ways?
