Now I'm hoping for a drunken fight between Cass and the Inquisitor over festering grudges. Danger makes life more interesting!

Indeed! Mutually assured destruction: The best way to keep a relationship civil :P

This thread taught me hearts mean truth in medieval heraldry. Since she's a seeker of truth, that would make sense.

Going by her behavior sober, drunk Cassandra is probably a bull in a china shop or a extremely grumpy mess.

That is if she drinks alcohol.

Who knows? Maybe she's a happy drunk who likes to talk about what color ribbon she would like on her shoes.

I'm think that when Cassandra is drunk, she cannot hide how she feels and can't lie very well.

and can't lie very well.

She can't even do that when she's sober...

Romance or no, I wanna see Cassandra drunk! And passed out under the table.

True but what I mean is that she would show that romantic side of hers that she hides and be less uptight.

Yeah, it would be funny.  It would probably also be funny to see the Inquisitor and the party convincing her to unwind and drink with them.

I know another intoxicant that would make her less uptight: lust. It would be interesting to see her struggling with that. Cassandra being distracted by the sexy would be comedy gold! (and cute, at the same time)

I'm not sure "really needs to get laid" is a good basis for a romantic subplot.

Oh no, I wasn't thinking of a subplot, just one scene. You know, the Inquisitor and Cassandra have been getting closer, and she's realizing that looking at the Inquisitor makes her distracted. Maybe during downtime, they're having a quiet conversation and she starts thinking that it feels good to be close to him, or that he smells nice, or something like that. It would be cute and funny at the same time.

Maybe while he's reading to her? I love me some romantic reading by the fire.

Varric: Seeker, you have been staring at the Inquisitor's ass the whole time we've been walking. It's starting to become uncomfortable and that's coming from someone who spent ten years with Isabela.

It's romantic right up until she notices the Player Character is reading Hard in Hightown, by Varric Tethras.

Drunken Cassandra dialogue coming up:

Cassandra: *holding out her shoulder armor, which she had removed, along with her shirt* Listen, listen, I'm telling you, Inquisitor, you can put hearts with anything *hic*. They don't jusht mean romantic love. They are more than that.

Inquisitor: *hic* It's not the heart shape that bothers me. It's that youuuu *hic* suggested it.

C: *stumbles out of her barstool* Is that supposed to *hic* be an insult, you bastard/******?!

I: Maybe it is, maybe *hic* it isn't. you wann make shomthing of it?

C: Inquishitor, I demand satisfashion!

I: Satisfashion? I think you'll need to get Dorian or Vivinian....Viviannan.....that mage with the weird hat and the stick up her ***...if you want that. I'm not good with clothing. Can't even remember the last time I kept an outfit for more than a day or two.

C: No! You will give me satisfashion, or I will take it from you!

I: Will you now?! *stands up, and draws his/her weapon, promptly losing balance and falling to the floor* You'll have to pry it from my cold, dead, glowy fingers.

C: *draws her blade* If you will not cooperate, I will be forced to put my blade to your throat again!

I: Go a*hic*head! Make my day...evening....night....thing.

C: Very well. *tries to bring her blade to Inquisitor's throat. Fails.* Dammit, stop moving, you arse!

I: *vomits on the floor, passes out*

C: *takes a minute to find Inquisitors throat* Ha! Got you. Satisfashion ashieved! *sheathes her sword in the air next to her belt and lets it drop to the floor*

*Varric walks in*

Varric: Dear Maker, Seeker! What have you done to the Inquisitor?!

C: *drunk smile* We had a disagreement about hearts. I won. *walks off, slips in the vomit and lands on the hilt of her dropped sword, getting knocked out.*

V: *sigh* The half-naked Right Hand of the Divine knocks herself out with her own sword while the leader of the most powerful organization in Orlais and Ferelden is choking on her own vomit. Honestly Seeker, when you wake up and call bull**** on this one, I can't say I'll blame you. Maker help us all.

I'm kind of picturing Cassandra being kind of like Athos from The Three Musketeers, drinking for her is sort of serious business because it tends to dredge up bad memories like the loss of Byron and her brother. She's not grumpier than usual, she's just kind of withdrawn and probably isn't in the mood to talk.

I was wondering about a possible friendship path with Cassandra. She doesn't look very friendly. Also a bit concerned that since she's straight, friendship content might be locked out and she'll go into romance territory with male inquisitors. Hope it's not the case.

That didn't happen in DA:O or DA II. Why would you worry about it for DA:I?

She strikes me as the sort who's friendly but only after she's become comfortable with you.

Cassandra did warm up during her interrogation of Varric in DA2.  I think her relationship with the player character will be along similar lines.  She'll be initially hostile because that's how she deals with the unknown.  Once the Player Character demonstrates that they are not a threat but rather the solution to the crisis in DAI, she's going to be far more amicable.

Hmm...Is Cass a wine, beer or spirits person? I would guess wine, seeing as she was born a noble and has lived a good part of her life in Orlais. Old habits die hard :P

Deep down Cassandra is a kind and friendly person. Very deep down.

As for the romance path, the player will have to use the flirt option first (heart icon) anyway. I don't see her initiating anything or even showing interest publicly. With the glimpse of the early interactions we have seen, I'm not even sure if Cassandra is going to take the Inquisitor's flirt seriously.

I suspect the first Flirt Option will be during her interrogation of the Player Character.  That'll go over well, I think.

A role reversal might be interesting:

Cassandra: You refused to cooperate, called me insane and now you want to kiss me?

Inquisitor: ...Yeah.

That would be an interesting mechanic, and make the romance a bit less straightforward. Choosing the 'Heart' at every single moment wouldn't simply lead to a romance, but rather actions and options in which you portray propriety, duty, loyalty, justice and such that Cassandra values would instead instigate the romance.
