I expect Cassandra's room to look like she doesn't sleep in it. At least, that's how her DotS room looked like.

I guess that's why she's so grumpy.  I wonder what Cassandra's like after a good night's sleep?

I'm thinking bed, a desk with neat piles of documents, a small trunk of clothes& other assorted gear and maybe a bookself. Perhaps even a little shrine. All in all, fairly Spartan. Militray life tends to teach you to be mobile, and that means not lugging around anything you don't want to carry yourself  :P

I was thinking Cassandra would have her room set up this way as well.  Especially since her job as a Seeker had her traveling a lot.

More grumpy.

First there is the nightmares. Second, there is job related stress. Finally, the bed is uncomfortable.

Like an unused cleaned hotel room, only her armament carefully placed on a table and a small saddle bag filled with spare clothes and her most personal belongings sitting in the corner.

is it normal to have ones most personal belongings tucked away in a corner?.

Iron Bull is the one with PTSD.  I imagine Cassandra's fairly well adjusted, despite her anger management issues.

They're save in there and displaying them so others can see them might not be what you want, those are your personal belongings after all.

I'm sure Cass doesn't want to leave her favorite kinky romance book laying on the table, openly and unprotected from spying eyes.   ;)

Hard In Hightown: Siege Harder is a medieval crime drama. It's about Donnen Brennicovick, a dirty guard on the edge. Silly fandom and their dirty minds.

She did see her brother get decapitated...just saying.

Yes, but that was when she was a child.  Not only that but she did get some closure in some regard by participating in the battle that got the murderer of her brother killed.  The only thing that could really help her after that is time to help heal the wound and she has had that.

Trauma doesn't follow neat lines of logic or basic outlines of "closure" sure, Bioware can indeed make her get over that incident, but i'd point out that i wouldn't be surprised if the memories and pain persisted.

The Mage being dead doesn't bring her brother back, it doesn't erase the fact she couldn't do anything to stop it.

Anyway, this is drifting into a morbid topic i'd prefer to avoid.

Yes, but she found a therapeutic outlet for that.  Killing everything and everyone that gets in her way.

Cassandra has more in common personality-wise with someone who has PTSD than Iron Bull does regardless of what the devs are saying on the matter.

Fair enough, I found four separate prescriptions, but vengeance is good too.

I think her past trauma is pretty well behind her.  Based on what I've read from her profile, it's what going on in the present that's raising her cortisol levels.

Is it wrong to hope Cassandra will go Tsundere on the Inquisitor?

Is it wrong to hope that praise will never interact with Cass again?

They just have different ways of dealing with it. Cassandra put up a cold wall and emotionally shut down (most of the time) and Iron Bull put a carefree facade and is self medicating with alcohol and sleeping around. Either way, they are hiding their vulnerability.

Emotional shutdown (and distance) is a PTSD side effect, along with anger management issues and hyper-vigilance. Sleeping around and carefree facade are not symptoms of PTSD, unless they are used in a self-destructive way which is really, really not pretty. Iron Bull wouldn't be the bro-funny companion if he was meant to be a self-destructive mess with PTSD...

Some people simply aren't very traumatized by events that leave others struggling to cope. One of my best friends in basic was an EMT when he was civilian. He talked very matter-of-factly about some of the gruesome stuff he'd seen on the job. And he'd seen some pretty serious stuff. So when the instructors yelled at him, he barely reacted. It just didn't faze him very much. Then there were other guys who were nervous wrecks every night.

Not saying that basic military training is anything like watching your brother get his head cut off. Just that each person reacts to stress differently, and in different ways. Some people don't need that much support, if any, to handle their sh*t. Others need a lot. I know I did. And there is no shame either way. Neither group is doing it 'wrong' as long as they're being honest with themselves and not trying to put on a brave facade just to appear strong. An unfortunate side-effect of being in the armed forces is that this behavior is pretty common amongst those who need crucial help. So it can be hard to tell the people who are in a lot of turmoil from the people who really are just fine.

Something tells me we're going to find out just where Cassandra lies on that spectrum in DA:I

I honestly hope she's exactly like she was in the movie.   Should make for some fun times.

I hope she's had some character development in the years since the movie, myself.

I get the feeling that she's not a big fan of opening up to people after what happened to her brother, Byron, and the Divine (you don't serve as someone's right hand woman without getting to know them).

Inquisitor: So, Cassandra, tell me about your past.

Cassandra: You don't want to know. Nothing good happens to those who find out.

Inquisitor: I'll take the chance.

Cassandra: Very well. Blah, blah, killed a bunch of Dragons, blah, brother killed by mages, blah, Galyan, blah, Right Hand of the Divine, blah, blah, the Necropolis, blah. But enough about me, I hope this hasn't been boring for you. It's just that whenever I start to talk about my Galyan, I get so carried away, I lose all track of time....

Inquisitor: *Hanging from the ceiling*
