No, that her fans would resort to pictures like "Please don't be straight." I thought the Cassandra fans were more mature then that. You don't see the rest of us place pictures like "Please don't be gay."

Well, I mean, if she's straight, female PCs don't get to romance her at all. If she's available for both genders, everyone wins? I don't think it was meant in the way that you're taking it.

It was in the Q&A, so somebody asked a question and somehow in the answer Cassandra (and Cullen) being romance came out. We don't even know the question asked here. Also, according to LadyInsanity, the one reporting the news, the Q&A was all over the place, this mean it is possible that we have a misunderstanding here (from either side and it wouldn't be the first time).

I find her explanation of how they explained romance strange though (joking with Varric is not what I call a romance), seems to me it was more an explanation for how friendship/dialogs works in the game. How that explanation ended up confirming Cassandra and Cullen as romance puzzle me even more, especially Cullen, who haven't been officially announced as being in the game yet. I personally think we need the panel video at this point.

(and yes, I've been called an eeyore before...)

Gaider tweeted about receiving a lot of tweets about Cassandra, and 'remembered' that Laidlaw was talking at PAX, so I doubt there's a misunderstanding.
It's even more clear for Cullen, since someone tweeted Sheryl asking if every PC can romance Cullen, and she said we'll find out in the game.
If you still think there might be some misunderstanding, fair enough. We'll probably be able to see the full panel soon.

This is great i started a romance thread back when DA2 came out because i thought that Cass was a romance for Hawke but that was not going to happen so i am glad to see that she is a romance for this game.Funny I remember in the anime her and that Mage guy i forget his name kind of had something going but i guess that did not last.

Well, Cassandra seemed attracted, from what I know, but it'a not like she was in love with him, and 20 years passed between DoTS and DAI.

Some people disagree, so I presume it's left to interpretation.

imo, yeah, her and Regalyan had a thing.

I agree with you, though it wasn't necessarily something deep.
Plus, 20 years passed. Many relationships don't last that long.
Or maybe there'll be love triangle  ?

I'd like to think they stayed in contact, at the very least.

But my Lady Inquisitor can and will take him down need be :P

Because heterosexuality is a given. You don't get to worry if one of the "main" protagonists end up gay. Morrigan had the most content and she was important to the story and also was hetero.

So yes, let us worry about Cass.

If I do romance Cassandra, it'll be with a female Inquisitor. So yeah, I don't want her to be straight.

Unfortunately, she and Cullen are probably the most likely LIs to be straight, if they don't go the playersexual route, which is a crying shame for a lot of their fans. I think both fanbases have reason to worry.

So then it really should have said, "Please be bi."

I think the image's artist knew exactly what they were doing.

I think you're reading into this pic way too much. The artist meant "anything other than just straight". It's just different wording.

Then the wording was.. a bad choice. I don't think you guys would be this dismissive if it had said, like Milan suggested, "Please don't be gay."

I'm not convinced that the author's intentions were that of equality, but that's irrelevant I suppose, so long as it's interpreted that way.

It's a poor choice of words. And some people will see it as a double standard.

Anyway's it's time to get back to her character topic. What I wonder is how she will respond to some random dude becoming the head of the inquisition. After all she is the Hero of Orlais and now she is going to follow some Dalish/Qunari/Dwarf ?

She gave him a peek on the cheek after saying that "this is not the time for such things". Said things being Galyan telling her how awesome and beautiful she is. She didn't tell him to shut up or that she wasn't interested, she told him he wasn't doing it at the right time. Who knows what happened after the ceremony...and it has been like 20 years too.

I'm being dismissive because in this case, I'm hoping for the same exact thing as the artist - and as a straight woman, I face no 'intolerance' for my sexuality as it is and this was hardly the start of that.

If it said "please don't be gay", I wouldn't be dismissive, only because: how often are there Dragon Age characters that are strictly same-sex romance? The answer is none, so, power to them if that's the case. I'd be quite happy and supportive, especially since I romance both genders in games.

There's a big difference between 'Please don't be straight' and 'Please don't be gay'. Queers in media are still a rare thing, not to mention that straights haven't exactly been opressed in society at any time in history. It IS a double standard, yes, but one that can be justified by previous experiences.

In the context of DA romances, it is even less of a problem, because there have been two (three if you count Sebastian) hetero-exclusive romances and no gay-exclusive ones, which means our fear is a very valid one.

And in the context of this very thread? You're definitely over-interpretating this picture. If there had been pictures in this very thread that said 'Please don't be gay', I for one wouldn't have been offended at all, because it is very clearly meant literally. 'Please don't be unavailable to me'. It's a valid wish and not one that has very little to do with discrimination of any kind.

"Very clearly." I dunno, man. It came from Tumblr. They have a penchant for this kind of thing. Please, excuse my skepticism.
