I don't see why people would be upset if cass only found such and such race attractive.
To be honest I'd only seriously be upset if she isn't available to male elves, since that's what I have planned as my first playthrough.

I sure won't. If Cass turns out to be a racist, it'll be Josephine from here on in.

You must be a riot at parties. And by riot, I mean that one guy who stands in a corner with a permanent scowl etched on his face.

Ah yes, because not being sexually attracted to a race means someones a racist
causing trouble over here now Ares? lol
Sounds like racism to me. Putting any amount of importance on race like that is pretty much stupid at any rate. Let's put in an equation.
X is the variable. Y equals race.
Cassandra refuses to X because of Y.
Cassandra refuses to speak to Qunari because of their race. Or....
Cassandra refuses to promote Elves in the Inquisition because of their ears.
Now, for the coup de grace!
Cassandra refuses to romance Dwarves because they're Dwarves.
It doesn't to me, but I'm not touching that subject, not even with a twenty feet-long pole. What about some art instead? The art will never be race-gated.

Is Cass wearing a cape?
I've always was going to roll a human male mage with Cass being my LI. All of my headcanon characters were all humans, sooo not really a problem for me.( And I'm not raciest )

That's funny, me not finding certain people attractive is racist.
For example: Dwarves, to me they resemble stocky children, to me finding them attractive is an immense chore.
Is Cass wearing a cape?
either that or she has a sore throat lol

Finally, we agree on something.
I wish we could have capes
Capes!

Capes!

Short of Cassandra's romance arc involving the Nevarran throne, I cannot imagine any other decent "story reason" for her being race-gated to humans only.
In my opinion, lack of attraction towards non-humans isn't an actual story reason and seriously pales in comparison to the Nevarran throne theory.
At least Solas being romanceable by female elves only makes a lot of sense story-wise, suggesting that he either wants to rebuild the elven race or produce more Dreamers (which has implications for the whole of Thedas).
Sure, Cassandra finding non-humans unattractive could still be the justification for her being race-gated, but it is a relatively weak justification in a game that is being touted as having a great story.
Personally, assuming I'm right about Cassandra's general character arc in Inquisition, I think that a romance between her and a non-human makes a lot of sense. She's questioning her duty and faith, starting to see the world as more than just black and white. She might be more open to having a relationship with a Dalish elf or a qunari mercenary or a Carta thug.
I might end up being completely wrong, but that's my two cents anyway.
If Cass is race gated against elves, I... I...
I think Dorian and Solas are going to have to fight for the second mage spot on the team. There's no other choice. ![]()
Cassandra is more likely to be race gated against Dwarves and/or Quanari than Elves since City Elves do tend to follow the Maker while the Dwarves and Qunari have far different views and the Qun is a pretty big issue to those that follow the Chantry.
There are no reasons for a surfacer Dwarf not to follow the Maker... ![]()
Allan just confirmed in a seperate thread that Gaider's tweet was just him stating that he never verbally said that the last 2 were the race gates, in other words he wasn't confirming or denying it so the chances of the last LI being the 2nd race gate is still very real.
All elven Inquisitors are Dalish... One of the things I've wondered about is how Cass will take to a Creators worshipping elf with views on the Chantry that conflict with her own.
