I don't like the message the image is giving either. Being inclusive means being against all double standards, and racism, sexism or homophobia directed at the majority is just as bad as racism, sexism or homophobia directed at the minority.

More on topic: I have a feeling that Cullen will be a female only LI, but I don't know about Cassandra. I'm pretty sure she will not be a female only LI, but I could see her being male only or availible to both. I do think that either her or scribe girl will fill the role of male-only LI if they are going the 6 LI route. If Cullen is indeed a romanceable NPC then it seems more likely that a female romanceable NPC will fill the male-only role.

yeah, let's just stay on topic.

Cassandra will definitely not be fem!Inquis only for romance, I don't think anyone was asking for that anyway. I hope she mentions Regalyan, can't remember how to spell his name

Galyan. It was a good story. He was all, "I'm not a blood mage!" and she was all "A mage is a mage!"

Melts my heart.

Sorry, but no. I agree that double standards will have to disappear somewhere along the way (preferably when we've reached some semblance of equal ground), but discrimination against the majority? Nowhere near as bad as discrimination against the part of society that is already being discriminated against BY THE MAJORITY. In theory, you may be right, but in practice? That **** ain't gonna fly.

(Dont get me wrong though, I'm not trying to sound harsh. Simply disagreeing.)

Regarding possible Cassandra story archs (as I've been overthinking this to high heaven). Here is my wild imagination in action, Sit back and enjoy :)

It's a quiet day in Inquistion headquarters  when we walk into Cassandra's office/barrack/bedroom...whatever. She claims she has heard news of an intended attack by the Red Templars on a group of former circle mages hiding in a cave system from the conflict and insists that we help them. We ask why she is so concerned by this but she asks us to trust that she has her reasons and to leave the topic alone. But of course this is a choice based game, and we can ignore Cassandras request for a while if we choose, or go immediately. If the former the following plays out:

We arrive to find a massacre, mage bodies are littered everywhere. Cassandra is noticeably distressed, Varric is concerned for her as well as Vivienne but she mostly upset over the needless deaths of the circle mages. We fight through several animated corpse a few demons etc until we come to a large cavern where the largest number of bodies both Templar and mage can be found. the companions state that whatever battle was here is lost but we notice Cassandra grieving over the body of a particular mage. Before anything can be said she drops her sword and leaves the caves. Just as we go to follow one of those big red rocky thing with the arm-hammers(name please??) come in an we have to fight it and a few stray Templars with a party of 3. The battle is done and we return to HQ and to Cassandra's office/bedroom/bedroom, etc to find all her solider kicked out and we can't talk to her/take her on quests for awhile. When we can talk to her she tells us that mage was called Regalyan and the two of them were 'friends'. We can either comfort her or tell her to man up and get back to work.

Option two(going immediately). Go into the caves, Templars everywhere, kill, kill, kill, save the odd mage along the way. Get to the clearing. Mage V Templar battle in progress. Cassandra sees Regalyan, Regalyan sees Cassandra. Slow motion running towards each other whilst avoiding arrows. Okay perhaps not but they are happy to see the other safe(ish) and maybe there is a kiss. Insert witty comment by Varric. Reunion interrupted by big red hammer guy joining the fight. Brief battle, them another cutscence. Galyan notices the seemingly endless influx of Templar and resorts to blood magic (yes I know we're all tired of this scenario but I could thing of no better way to get rid of him with killing him) Cassandra's not happy and he knows this. Return to battle, Galyan is now an ally (of sort) doing much damage to the enemies but using our health to fuel it. We can do nothing but stock up on potions and pray Vivienne is a healer. Eventually the battle is won. Cassandra confront Galyan with her sword to his throat. He apologises but is not angry at her reaction. She say he should die for what he is. INSERT INQUISTOR! we can persuade her to kill him or let him leave with the others but regardless of what we say she throws down her sword and walks away. Depending on the previous dialogue choice we can either warn him or tell him to keep the survivor safe, then we leave for HQ.

Next time we speak to her in her bedroom she is being comforted by Varric (cos I so ship those two). Their conversation ends as we walk in. She apologises for letting personal matters distract her from what the inquistion is about. We can either agree with her or tell her she was right to get us to help those mages. Perhaps the conversation will refer to us convincing her to kill galyan or not, and this will shape her view on mages in the future. Then insert some fantastically written dialogue AND THEN THE ROMANCE BEGINS!!!!!

.....i'll stop thinking now

I don't think you guys would be this dismissive if it had said, like Milan suggested, "Please don't be gay."

No that also would be fine. Preferences are preferences, nothing wrong in expressing them. Some people wanted Traynor to be straight, is that a problem?

I disagree entirely with the concept that because something is more common it automatically makes it worse. Just because 90% of the time racial slurs are used against a minority does not mean that if a racial slur is used against someone of the majority it is "less wrong". It is just as wrong.

Where on Earth does that train of logic even lead? Hate crimes against the majority are less bad than hate crimes are against the minority? Assaulting someone for being the more common sexuality is less of a hate crime than assaulting someone of a less common sexuality?

No. I don't care "what flies" or not, treating people differently solely based on their race, gender or sexuality is wrong no matter what, and all equally wrong, no matter who is doing it to who.

Sorry about the major diversion from the topic, but I really hate hypocrisy and double standards. And believing that some forms of racism, sexism or sexual discrimination are somehow "less wrong" is a position that I take serious issue with.

Why are you still continuing when clearly a mod came through here and sweeped it out intentionally. Drop it. Or take it to PM. This thread doesn't need to be derailed any further.

Mm, to stay on topic, do you think that Regalyan could appear in Inquisition, maybe as part of Cassandra's personal quest? I hope so. It's especially interesting if there's romance involved.

I sort of hoped for her personal quests to be part of some Nevarran scheme but since Nevarra has been dropped then meh.

How was it confirmed? Did they deliberately bring it up, or did some dude from the crowd just shout out, "Yo, can I bang Cass?!"

They had a Q and A.

No, that her fans would resort to pictures like "Please don't be straight." I thought the Cassandra fans were more mature then that. You don't see the rest of us place pictures like "Please don't be gay."

Of course not, because no one has reason to believe she'll be gay. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights, or Buldar's Gate? Not one gay companion but lots of straight ones.

So then it really should have said, "Please be bi."

No, it should say 'Please don't be straight' because her being straight is what people are worried about.

If you're worried she's going to be a lesbian, feel free to voice your concerns.

I personally want him to be a member of the Inquisition (not necessarily has a companion). It would fit with what he was doing in DotS (aka running a secret mage spying network to stop bad mages).  Just imagine the Varric-Galyan conversations...

I also 90% certain that Cassandra's personal quest is going to be related to her brother in some way.

The fact that Cullen appears to be a romanceable NPC has given me the hopes that Inquisition may be like Mass Effect, but with the straight LI's being the NPC romances, which might mean we'll finally have a homosexual companion! I'm trying to keep my expectations in check, but I would be really happy if we do!

He died a very long time ago though, somewhere around 25 years as of Inquisition. I like to think that Cassandra long got over his death, and I doubt anything new about the event will be revealed outside of dialogue with her.

Personally I'm hoping that her personal quest is related to the Chantry. Perhaps something that tries her faith or gives her a conflict of interest between the Inquisition and the Chantry. Not because I want her to move away from the Chantry, but because as she has always been so closely tied to it we would see some strong character conflict if her faith in it or the Maker was put into question. Even better if it is not something the Inquisitor can "fix", but something she has to resolve herself.
