Partially a lack of options if you had a straight Hawke who didn't want to involve herself in Twilight 2.0. Seriously, Anders v. Fenris was really bad. Can we....NOT...give a f*** about mages and templars for a little while?

 

Sebastian had his flaws, but he didn't really spout off for one side or the other, even after Anders blew up the Chantry. As long as Hawke made Anders pay, Sebastian followed his/her lead.

The male LI's in DA2 were equally terrible but hmm actually Anders peaks here out of the lot, what an insufferable companion he was. Sebastian was such a bore, a chaste choir boy at that. Shame that Varric was the best of the bunch but unavailable.

I'm a straight man, but I will play females who romance males. As long as the relationship is hetero, it doesn't matter. And since I enjoy playing female Hawkes and Wardens, the available male LIs are a very important part of my gaming experience. Anders and Fenris are fine enough on their own, but taken together, it forces the female Hawke to either go it alone, go with a half-ish romance with Seb, or constantly argue/agree with their respective LI. Pretty sucky options, in my opinion.

 

Sebastian doesn't bother me, though. I happen to like the choir boy archetype, given my religious background. It's part of the reason I really like Cassandra. I'm REALLY looking forward to her dialogue on the Chantry and the Maker. I enjoy characters of deep religious faith(Even ones like Merrill). So Cassandra being straight and religious is a dream LI for me. Even if she was the only LI for male Inquisitors, I'd be tickled pink(though I'd still say having at least one more would be nice).

I'm looking forward to the power dynamic between Cass and Leliana in this game. How they will interact with one another, how they will discuss what's the best course of action for a given mission and such. I'd also like to learn more about Cass' personal relationship with the Divine Justinia. I know how much Leliana admired her, not so much about Cass though. Hope it will be explored when talking to her at some point during the game.

I did. Leliana is awesome. I really am looking forward to seeing her changes in this game from DA:O. Over the last 10 years, she's bound to have some more stories to tell. And I agree, the power dymaics between the two of them will be interesting to see. But my guess is the two of them will be pretty much on the same page. I doubt they have a lot of conflict, given that they have been working together for a long time, and both are devoted to the Chantry(or at least what's left of it). Not that it will all be sunshine as roses, but they will, for the most part, get along. At least, that's my impression of the one time the two of them have shared the screen. Edit: And the concept art with the two of them proclaiming the Inquisitor.

 

I truly wish there was a way to show the two of them high-fiving eachother if they actually manage to get Hawke and the Warden into the same room.

Not going to turn this into one of those discussions, but let's just say I didn't need Sebastion to convince me to kill anyone. 

 

 

I got to shank someone over an important world changing event. I was happy and yet sad since Anders was my buddy. And yet happy....muahahahaha, mr. murder knife was fed once again. *cough*

Back on topic:

Cassandra was pointed by the previous Divine. Not sure what her relationship was with Justina V. Cass would have been the more visable hand as the Divine's champion (bodyguard, fights for the Divine in a duel if anyone would actually be dumb enough to insult the Divine) while Leliana was her shadow.

 

I'm not sure how much Cass and Leliana actually get along. They are both clearly devoted to the Divine but I'd imagine Cass might agree more with Cullen's straight forward military mindset rather than Leliana's cloak and dagger approach.

I doubt it, Cass might smack Leliana after trying to get Cass in a proper dress and ranting about pretty shoes for the upteen time..

 

Scribbles seems more Leliana's type, she worldly, has a way with words (being a diplomat) and no doubt, as a noble, has a taste for the finer things in life.
