I realize I'm late to the topic of sexual experience (or lack thereof), but I just had to stick my head in and mention that I was put off by the pooh-poohing of the idea of older virgins a few pages back. Believe it or not, it actually is perfectly possible to make it to one's twenties or thirties or beyond without having slept with someone. Personally, I'm a 29-year-old virgin, and I know several people in their mid to late-thirties who are also virgins. Not saying we're common, but we're also not unicorns.

Also, can we not with the implication that one has to have had sex to be "worldly and mature"? With regard to Cassandra specifically, are you telling me that you would look at a woman who has traveled throughout much of the known world, ferreted out assassination plots, saved the Divine from being eaten by a dragon, risen to near the top ranks of a secretive and feared organization, and earned titles like "Hero of Orlais" and "Right Hand of the Divine," and still, upon finding out she's a virgin, cry "NOPE! Not worldly and experienced enough for me!" Because...yeah. I'm pretty sure there's more to life and the sum total of human experience than whether or not one has had sex. Ditto for the tired old claim that people who don't regularly partake in "physical intimacy" are somehow broken, dysfunctional, or otherwise abnormal or less than human. That may or may not have been how those comments were intended, but trust me, when you hear it as often as I've heard it, that's how it starts to come across. And it's really dismissive and offensive to people who are asexual, or who, like me, simply choose to be celibate.

To bring this slightly more on topic, while I don't expect Cassandra to be a virgin (and don't have a strong opinion on her prior sexual experience either way, because...that's a little creepy), I think it would be cool if she was. In media, older virgins ("older" being anything past, say, 20) are either nonexistent or the butt of jokes. I wouldn't expect BioWare to take the latter route--or at least, I would hope not--and I definitely can't see Cassandra as either the "blushing, skittish virgin maiden" archetype or the "socially hopeless desperate nerd" archetype. I would find it really refreshing to interact with a character for whom virginity is simply a state of being, not a disease they need to be cured of.

I can see your point, and can understand why it wouldn't likely lead to the fetishization of virginity in Cassandra's case... but in the only scenario where her virginity would become relevant, it would be shortly removed. If that's a problem.

Also, I just saw Dawn of the Seeker, a movie resounding in its averageness. I liked it overall, but the fact that enemy mages couldn't cast spells annoyed the heck out of me, and the scene where a large number of ogres and golems attack out of nowhere... well, I'm just resigning that to mental discontinuity.

Most of the mages we see just attack with scythes. Some of them use rapid-fire spirit bolts, but only a handful use anything more; even Galyon isn't that great at it, it seems.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't plan already to watch (Cassandra's portrayal as a war machine was enough), but this news strenghtened my opinion.

Well... if you take into consideration that a lot of her enemies are morons, and that she has some kind of magical ancestral dagger for certain situations, her portrayal isn't so much more implausible than a typical DA PC.

Didn't she kill dragons very easily?

That's the magic dagger I was referring to; I assumed it had some kind of dragon-killing property. Thankfully, she doesn't kill any high dragons.

Cassandra killed a Dragon in a Japanime movie.

Everyone can do that, not sure that she could do the same in a normal way

Understood. I'm still skeptical on the anime rapresentation of DA though.
What about the headbutt Skuld mentioned?

I read that she killed multiple dragons with ease. Dragons weren't that easy to kill in previous games.

I'm fairly sure that was a joke; all the actual death blows are performed with the dagger (never with her regular sword).

Admittedly, in previous games, you're not allowed to jump on top of them and stab them in the neck, which is what she does.

we killed darkspawn in origins like it was nothing i mean hundreds and hundreds, usually 20 or more at a time...  according to the books, this is an overwhelming number for a group of four....  plus not to mention we killed ogres 5 at a time in the epilogue, but in the books 1 is enough to take out a score of men....  i take it with a grain of salt, because its all relative even if its exaggerated.

True. I find it interesting that people don't like the exaggerations in Dawn of the Seeker despite doing things like those or even more spectacular in the DA games. Of course, that's because of gameplay and story segregation

She killed dragons young one not high-dragon and to be honest only high-dragons were challenge besides anime and rpg game have other rules when first mostly focus on quick action so 1hit 1 kill when rpg games tend be more tactical so for example loghain can survive 10 fireball in his face and don't care just to make gameplay more entertaining. So there is no real comparison in that matter as fight in da was mostly in games gameplay.

Well to put that we can compare pretty much cassandra isn't able to even scratch pride demon.

So i wouldn't put her on best warrior in the world category as we have some characters that fought against pride demons and won.

But i have some impression that da setting is very undecided in matter how powerfull are certain creatures.

That's the problem. I accept what we do in the games as gameplay/lore segregation. It doesn't mean I have to like it in another media related to DA.

She just crash a large mature dragon into it and, technically, all the flying dragons in the anime are equal or larger than DAO/DA2 high dragons...

As for the dagger, it doesn't need to be special beside the shape. She use it to remove a major aorta in the dragon's neck at a specific spot, they just bleed to death. It requires knowledge of dragon's anatomy not magical tools.

Also, she one-shot Golems and Ogres.

For the sake of any sort of lore coherence, I'm choosing to believe that the golem/ogre scene did not actually happen. Not just because of the fight, but because of the sheer implausibility of so many golems being captured by the conspiracy, not to mention so many ogres without other darkspawn.

Maybe she can kill a dragon but without a jump of seven killometres or something like that. I mean japanime are often exagerated but this movie is canon and we could imagine that she did it with less..spectacular actions ?

Anyway, I like her but I'm not fond of "power graduation", plus if it concern someone without magical powers, a normal person with only high skills with a weapon.

There is a few things in the anime and the lore that make me believe that the Pentaghasts never stopped hunting dragons despite everyone thinking they were extinct.
