Well, presumably the "later" would be during downtime, so there wouldn't be a need for "now isn't the time". That'd be a pretty lame romance if everything is duty and only fun "if there's time", what's the point then lol?

The challenge, of course! Being an angry and aggressive women, attempting to rommance Cass is a heavy risk........but the prize!

Romancing a work-alcoholic?  Romance is not all about kissing and sex anyway.

Also, we are supposed to be able to talk to companions outside of the main base, unlike DA2. So it might be possible to "kiss" and "hug" in the field and get a "now it's not the time" from Cassandra in the process.

Couldn't be Varric's story, her chest was too small.

In DA2, you meet people who still believe dragons are extinct in the Bone Pit quest and that despite the age being called the Dragon Age because one was spotted in 8:99...

Then even more reason to think that the supposed extinction of dragons is just a matter of common ignorance, not common knowledge. Just like when after the Fourth Blight many people thought the darkspawn were gone for good, even with Wardens, Dwarves and the whole freaking country of the Anderfels to point out the truth. So yeah, I'm sure those who knew were very aware of the continued existence of dragons, despite being fewer in numbers.

That's my take on it too. Hopefully, we will get the Pentaghasts point-of-view on the matter from Cassandra.

I want to ask her so many questions. Why do you worship death in Nevarra? What's the deal with dragon hunting, how did it start? Do you really have a book a familial legends? Did they add you to it? Do you approve of how Nevarra deal with mages? Do you find the Mortalitasi creepy?

Unfortunately, I doubt the Inquisitor is going to be able to do so much inquisition on her personal life.

So many questions... The problem now is that we know which questions we would like to ask, but maybe in-universe the Inquisitor doesn't know. I mean, what if the Inquisitor has never heard of the Mortalitasi? The Inquisitor would be unable to ask about them, unless Cassandra cares to explain by her own will.

But the dragon hunting is a must. I mean, dragons are coming en masse and everybody knows the Nevarrans are great dragon hunters. In Dawn of the Seeker nobody said "Ah, a Pentaghast, like the royal dynasty in Nevarra!", but "Ah, a Pentaghast, like the badass dragon hunters in Nevarra!".

She fits many of the different sub-ice queen tropes. I even suspect that she is a bit of a Snark Knight.

And warning, link leads to TVTrope, you might lose the rest of your day if you click it.

Cassandra doesn't seem to have a cold heart to me and as for the tropes, which specifically do you think she fits?

her thought process is that of morrigans in a sense, make the inquisition stronger at all costs... just like morrigan always advised to do what was necessary to bolster your chances of defeating loghain and the blight

She seems rather aggressive and enthusiastic. More fire than ice.

I like TVtropes. If it wants to make up new tropes and apply them broadly, I'm all for that. When they take existing characterizations and change their meaning, I am not for that. An ice queen is a woman who is emotionally unavailable and reserved. She is aloof and often unwilling to engage in some of the typically feminine behaviors that serve as social comfort.

A woman who is openly passionate and aggressive isn't an ice queen.

Cassandra never came off as cold to me.  She seems driven and professional, which is about what I could expect of someone whose title is "Seeker".

It's not so much the cold heart than the emotionally distant and seriousness. Cassandra appear cold to people, she isn't necessarily.

Cassandra is has a bit of an Iron Lady, except it's not about politics (unlike Vivienne who is 100% the Iron Lady). She is definitively a Sugar and Ice personality and got a bit of Jerk with a Heart of Gold going. And like I said, I see a bit of Snark Knight in her too. DA2 interrogation can be seen as a Defrosting the Ice Queen as well (TVtrope list it as such in fact). She start all cold and business-like and end up on a softer note.

But yeah, she doesn't fit the classic trope of the Ice Queen, because the lava is boiling quite close to the surface in there. She doesn't even fit the classic tsundere trope, even if people list her as such.

@Wolfen09

I agree, I actually find a lot of similarities between Cassandra and Morrigan, except they are sort of in totally opposite at the same time. Cassandra is a like an anti-Morrigan: same view on power, totally opposite goals as basis to gain such power.

Posted it in the Cullen thread so figured I might as well post it here too. Certainly wouldn't be opposed to my Inquisitor taking the Templar's place for a moment like this in the game:

I love TVTropes quiz games! But why do you say Cassandra doesn't fit the classic tsundere trope? In fact, which one are you talking about? Maybe she's not type B, but she looks type A. With a bit of Tragic Past tsundere. And now I've found even more classifications in TVTropes.

Admittedly, in previous games, you're not allowed to jump on top of them and stab them in the neck, which is what she does.

That's actually a finishing move you can do.

Cassandra's mood changes are not linked to romance/love/attraction that is rattached to the tsundere trope, that's why I say she doesn't fit the classic. She just mellow down when she gets to know people better and they aren't trying to destroy something she cares about. She doesn't necessarily see them as love interest, she doesn't become dere about them (otherwise CassandraxVarric would be a real thing).

I guess some people might take praising Hawke killing the Arishock as a dere moment, I took it the same way I took Flemeth showing up at the start of the game and going all "I was wondering who could killed a mighty ogre!". Both have a thing for heroes and people beating the odds.

Cass strikes me more as a Knight in Sour Armour/Hotblooded. Her time as a Seeker has made her cynical and she has one heck of temper, but she has a sweet side. Based upon Crestwood, she's the Spock to Varric's McCoy.

Romance-wise, I'm thinking closer to Carth Onasi than Morrigan. She's slow to trust and outside of her brother and Byron there aren't many people she's let get that close to her.
