But even if she does take lyrium? So what?

What is really the problem here? That she will become crazy?

Simple. I don't support substance use, and couldn't be in a relationship with someone who partakes in it. I've seen enough lives destroyed by stuff like that to play it in a video game.

Cassandra is a Seeker. Has it been confirmed that Seekers take Lyrium just like the Templars? They are effectively a different branch right?

The Seekers are recruited from the ranks of the Templars, it's likely she had her templar training and took whatever vows prior to becoming a Seeker.

If they use templar abilities, they assume lyrium.

Hmmm, so companions have the same specializations as the Inq does depending on the class

I bet Cass is templar and Blackwall is a champion

Can be the other way but I doubt it

I don't think for a second that Cassandra would take lyrium out of need because she is addicted.

Hell, she is a Seeker. Do they even use lyrium at all?

People seem to take these specs way too seriously.

Seekers are often made of the templars. Mostly, even

But Cassandra never was a templar. She was a Seeker from the start.

unless there is some unique Seeker out there who wasn't a templar prior to the change in most, all Seekers are recruited from the most elite templars.

Because they both fight mages and demons, it would make sense that perhaps Templars and Seekers go through the same combat training.

Dawn of the Seeker may have some canonical ties to the over all Dragon Age setting but i can only assume the lore has changed since then, RPG settings are constantly evolving and it may have been that back at the time when the movie was in production, the exact details of the structure of the Chantry was still in flux or undefined. However by todays writing it's suppose to be that the Seekers are made up of the most elite templars. Why would the Chantry wont anyone but it's own personally trained warriors who are likely brought up to be very devout and faithful, to over see the most sensitive investigations both within the Chantry and abroad.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but Cassandra might be one of few exceptions

Still, I think she will have the templar spec

Blackwall being both close to the Calling AND lyrium addiction is drama overload

I don't know you, nor can I judge you. But I can assure you that in my relatively short lifetime I've seen a lot of (things in general) people participate in drug use and abuse. For every story that ends badly there's another of someone being highly functioning and only partaking in recreational drug use occasionally (weekends). In the end it boils down to the individual. Some people can't tolerate it while others handle it pretty well (whether due to genetics or mentality). Let's not paint everyone in broad strokes, uh?

Tying this back to the templars and tangentially to Cassandra, I presume that lyrium addiction manifests in a similar way. For every Samson there's a Gregoir. Some people can handle it better than others. Some people get their nervous systems fried after a couple uses. Others take lyrium like they would coffee in the morning. If Cassandra is a templar through lyrium use I'm willing to bet that she's the latter type.

I wouldn't compare lyrium to drugs like marihuana and other shitty substances which people use to "have fun"

Lyrium is closer to use of medical drugs for health reasons. Except it's not health reasons but a need to fight magical enemies

Even if Cassandra will be using lyrium, she won't do it to "relax", she will do it because that's what she has to do to counter demons and mages

I understand why some folk can be so much against it but... I can hardly believe that potential use of lyrium will handicap Cassandra in any way. She's a reasonable person, a tad angry but reasonable

We never see Isabela sleep around with other people either, yet we know she does it. And that really ruined my romance with her to the point that I don't do it.

I'm afraid a similar situation will occur here, which is why I'm angry because I like really like Cassandra.

It doesn't really help to get angry about the way a character is written, especially before the game has even come out.

I also don't understand why a character's personality or traits are a reason to get angry, anyway. It's a video game. We're supposed to be getting to know these people as part of role-play, not getting angry when they don't act the way we want them to.

Cassandra was never a Templar.

Anyway, I made the mistake of reading through this thread for what I miss. Good times. Gooood times.

She can still learn templar abilities. Lambert didn't possess them in tevinter, and he learnt them later.

True.

I guess we'll see how it turns out when the game is released. It personally doesn't matter to me.

I will romance her no matter what her spec is.
