I wonder will Cass be warning us to never get high on our own supply?
She could be DAI' version of Scarface.
That would be so hot.

You let Avernus live, didn't you? Sounds like you two would get along fabulously.
To further understanding sacrifice is required.
its a concept that only a few seem to grasp.

I wonder how Cassandra would view such situations? Does she have a strong sense of morality, or is she more pragmatic? I haven't really been following the character, so I have no idea what to expect...
Well, whether they are getting high off lyrium as a side effect, Templars need it to do their jobs. This is one of the least unsavory aspects of the DA setting IMO... I don't know why it's such a problem for you, but I'm afraid that's just how it is. If this was a strictly recreational drug habit, I might be on board with what you're saying, but it isn't.
Also, we don't know for sure that Cass has the Templar spec, and if she does, it will likely be swept under the rug like it always has been...
You're right. You don't know.
And sweeping it under the rug is a problem.
But fine, I'll just shut up about this whole subject just like everyone else did.
I’m gonna go with pragmatic, but I also think it’d be circumstantial.I wonder how Cassandra would view such situations? Does she have a strong sense of morality, or is she more pragmatic? I haven't really been following the character, so I have no idea what to expect...

I get the vibe from her that she is waiting to be led to her moral spectrum.
She has a void in her life, she is suffering a crisis of faith.
That has left her belief system, her view of the world a mess...so i am hoping she will be fairly interactive on that point.

Well, it was a blood ritual so she would disapprove fiercely.

Well, I don't mean it like that...
I just think that it might be better to look at the whole picture, not just focus on the "drug" and "addiction" aspects... Templars have a sacred duty, and they submit themselves to the negative effects of lyrium in order to make the world a better place. The vast, vast, vast majority of them didn't sign up because they heard lyrium gives people a decent buzz...
I agree that sweeping things under the rug is a bad habit, but it's been done many times in the past. On the bright side, the writers seem to have some interest in moving away from that, based on decisions like the removal of blood mage as a player spec and some unspecified impact that our class will have on the game. Also the specs are limited to 1 each so that we will have some level of recognition of the spec by NPCs... so perhaps they won't sweep lyrium addiction under the rug. Whether they do or don't, it's more complicated than "getting high." At least, that's how I see it...
Well, it was a blood ritual so she would disapprove fiercely.
True, but I meant more like... questionable deeds for the greater good. Not specifically related to blood magic. She'd be a poor Seeker to ever think that was acceptable...
The Templars Order is actually fairly open about the effects of Lyrium and people sign up anyway.
They do it to better the world; there is no hiding of what it takes to be a Templar.
This whole question regarding the distinction between Darkspawn and Ghouls makes me wonder if Ghouls are immortal.
Darkspawn can life forever, sustained by the Taint alone.
Probably not since canon source have spoken of broodmothers having a lifetime.

Maybe it depends on how well attuned the particular Ghoul is to the Taint?
The Grey Wardens who the Architect further Tainted in The Calling seemed to have developed Darkspawn attributes like regeneration and the like. Oh, and they didn't need to eat or drink either if I recall correctly.
Regular Ghouls still seem like they need to eat.
Certainly takes it down a few pegs. I don't like the fact that my character is forced to be a substance user. It's like Shepard becoming a drinker all over again.
I think you are massively overreacting on this, but then I clearly haven't seen what you have. I'm not sure if that should carry over to several substantially different situations in a fantasy world, though. It's unfortunate that the ground you're choosing to stand on risks ruining your enjoyment of something you love, but you stick with it.
Well, I or my companions have never used lyrium potions.
Zero, huh? Coincidentally, that's the same amount of lyrium dust taken by either Alistair, or my Templar spec'd Warden, or my Templar spec'd Hawke. Or Templar Carver. Zero. Five bucks says it's the same amount consumed on screen by either Cassandra or Blackwall or Cullen. Just saying.
You realize you're ruining Origins for me right?
Well, sure, that's ONE way to take it. >_>;
Another way is to realize that Word of God doesn't mean much and the work stands as is. Death of the Author and all that. OR to not immediately judge people just because they are addicted to a drug. Caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine are all drugs that many of the people you know are probably addicted to, yet they remain the same lovable and good people they always have been despite that. Thedas is a messy world and applying a one-size fits all modern morality is likely to be disappointing in the long run.
I think of lyrium dust as less of a drug addict and more like anti-radiation pills some people who handle radioactive material or who fear radioactive fallout take. Those too can have some nasty side effects, but they seem better than the alternative.
I'm just imagining this scene of Cass and the Inquizzy "sharing" lyrium via oral insertion now.

Like drinking potions? What's so special about that?

More like running a line over a tongue and then inserting said tongue into the other's mouth.
People did it with blow back when i was around that sort of **** in the 90s.

Inquisitor: Shall we... swap lyrium? ![]()
Cassandra: I have my own supply.
Varric: No, I think he means *wisper* *whisper*...

She might find the idea kinky it also satisfies a practical need.
I could see her getting on board with it ![]()
You can also pour Lyrium dust on your _____ and then you ____ with Cass.
