Just look at the standing postures

From E3 gameplay her posture is nice and normal. her balance is distributed between both legs. From the newest game play one of her feet is held slightly behind the other and legs are close together. Most of her weight is on that front leg. No one stands like that.

True, but on the other hand, if you watch the way your average lad strolls around I think you'd be surprised just how much of a specimen BroQuisitor is. I mean, he’s no John Marston, but he’s holding a frame, and it ain’t a perfectly natural one.The male animations are very neutral. There is really nothing sexualized about the way ManQuisitor moves. He, Blackwall, and Dorian are not wiggling around or anything.
Still, I understand the complaint. There is a notable exaggeration put on the female hip swaying, and the reality is I don’t get to decide if it’s okay or not. Personally, I don’t mind, it doesn’t affect my perception of the characters, nor does it particularly feel out of place in the larger-than-life fantasy world Bioware have created. But that’s all I got, I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind.
Yeah, regardless of whether it's Cass or not, I'm a bit disappointed with the female running animations. (Heck, DA2's were one of the reasons I've never been able to finish that game as a female Hawke. Her butt moved like a wrecking ball!)
It's not that I have anything against a "sexy" walk, but... I mean, I'm a lady, and I have to consciously try to walk sexily. I'm just saying, my hips DEFINITELY don't rock from side to side like a baby cradle unless I tell them to.
I guess for other women it's more natural, their hips do sway a lot, etc. Maybe other women are more feminine than I am, I dunno.
Nah, hip sway isn't a femininity gauge. Sometimes less is more. But you know how people are, they like something and immediately assume more of it is better.
Just look at the standing postures

acually the hip swaying isnt unbeilevably exageratted given the body type of DA females the "hip sway" in the real world can be forced true but it is acually a nature at work the larger hips of females force leg movement that way the wider your hips and the thinner the female the more its pronounced men find this "sexy" due to the fact that females with larger hips will often be capable of having more healthy off spring, its the same reason men with pronounced latisimis dorsi (the muscle that runs underneath the arm and onto the back) tend to walk with their arms slightly away from their body with the chest out, We see this as a show of confedence but in reality this is the most natural position for them to walk in. and just like females its emulated by those who dont have the natural prediposition because of what means

That's a funny definition of normal you have there.Avaline had a normal stance.

So why can't Cass?
No one's knees can be that far apart with their legs straight down. She looks awkward.

What are you talking about her body is in a natural posture. Her legs are apart and her body is at rest.

Read: "Personality free zone."
Ya don't brew your chi in the street. It's weird.
But seriously, if someone stood like that around me, I'd get unnerved and ask them to relax.
And when they inevitably don't respond, they just, y'know, tilt their head and stare, I'd make a run for it... maybe I get away, maybe I don't.

If I can interject into the conversation just a sec'.
I'm a girl. I do not walk, run, or stand like that. The only women I have seen walk, run, or stand like that are models.
The thing I loved most about Cas was that she wasn't there to be a model. She's a BAMF, she can clear a room with only her sword.
I am against walk and standing animations like this because they look ridiculous and take from the experience itself,
especially when you have characters like Cas using them.
You can try to say it's natural all you want, it's just not bloody true.

Cassandra Pentaghast is not a normal girl either. She lives on Thedas, not Earth. She is a woman nearing her 40s and still fighting. I know of no woman who are in their 40s or late 30s and are fighting.
So since Cassandra is not a normal girl, it follows that she could perhaps not walk like a normal girl.

That's fair, but I don't believe anyone was trying to say it was realistically natural; how the animations are exaggerated has been a theme of this discussion. The model-esque form of the movements is probably in-part a result of models being the source material the animators use. Still, I don’t mean to devalue the complaint. If I can interject into the conversation just a sec'.

Though, I would like to mention that I personally find the notion that a badass woman wouldn’t or shouldn’t move in a manner traditionally feminine rather regressive. Exaggerated hip movement notwithstanding, I think Cassandra is a more progressively natural representation of a strong woman precisely because she is not just a man with breasts.
I would argue the negative response to Cassandra’s animations in a bid to oppose a sort of sexist standard was in fact playing to the sexist tune. The exaggerations in the movements are read as negative on account of the more deeply seated synonymy, which only wishes to tell us “women can’t”. Not a fan of that idea myself; I would encourage strong characters to behave femininely, and perhaps then over time femininity could become more synonymous with strength. I don’t see it as fair that I’m not allowed to see a woman as both strong and attractive. But I feel like I am straying, and my conjecture will be misconstrued anyway, so I’ll end this here.

Exactly.
I find it odd that femininity is looked upon as weakness by many women. It makes no sense to a man like me. You are a woman, a female and so if you act in a womanly manner or in a feminine manner, you are suddenly weak and fragile and not badass ?
Strutting somehow makes a woman weak but being able to kick down a wall or tank makes her strong ? That's like saying women who wear dresses are weak fragile creatures but women who wear practical clothing are strong.
Men and women are different creatures. As such, strength would, in all logical sense, mean different things to men and women.
It would be a lot nicer to have women see the notion of being feminine and womanly as strong as well as being masculine and manly as strong. Strength comes in different brands and forms.

So, I thought of a good theme song for Cassandra
I wasn't gonna run from the demon but I was high
I was gonna kick their butt but I was high
(La da da da da da da da da)
Now I am in the inquisition and i know why (why man?) yea heayy,
- because I got high ~because I got high ~because I got high~

It always bugged me that Femshep walked and sat like a man despite the fact the she didn't have a males physique at all, which is kind of the opposite argument to this one. She may possessed brass balls the size of planetoids, but when she sat with her legs splayed like a dude ... it just looked so wrong.
I can see the argument and think that it is probably exagerrated, but I don't want Cass to walk like a man. No thanks.

Playable characters never did in any of the previous games so I think thats a safe assumption.

I've just realised why the "Storm The Casstle" subtitle has never sat well with me.
This works great with an American accent but when you are British the pronunciation of "Casstle" makes me sound like a Yorkshireman.
In my plumby southern accent, Castle is pronounced "Car-stle".
Curse you Colonials and your numerical superiority. CURSE YOU!
