Exactly.

I find it odd that femininity is looked upon as weakness by many women. It makes no sense to a man like me. You are a woman, a female and so if you act in a womanly manner or in a feminine manner, you are suddenly weak and fragile and not badass ?

Strutting somehow makes a woman weak but being able to kick down a wall or tank makes her strong ? That's like saying women who wear dresses are weak fragile creatures but women who wear practical clothing are strong.

Men and women are different creatures. As such, strength would, in all logical sense, mean different things to men and women.

It would be a lot nicer to have women see the notion of being feminine and womanly as strong as well as being masculine and manly as strong. Strength comes in different brands and forms.

I never said that femininity was weak, I said it was impractical/unrealistic as a walk for a warrior and uncharacteristic for Cass.

Trust me, I know BA women come in all shapes and forms.

So, as a warrior woman in her late thirties to early forties... she'd be model walking?

Why wouldn't she? Not saying she "should" be walking like that, just unclear why she shouldn't be just becasue of her vocation or age.

I've just realised why the "Storm The Casstle" subtitle has never sat well with me.

This works great with an American accent but when you are British the pronunciation of "Casstle" makes me sound like a Yorkshireman.

In my plumby southern accent, Castle is pronounced "Car-stle".

Curse you Colonials and your numerical superiority. CURSE YOU!

well if it makes you feel any better we arent too fond of the funny spelling of normal words.... like colour....

Ah, not to worry old chap, it really is a dastardly mess to unravel. This expalins it nicely.

Anyway we were referring to the inequity of voting balance regarding this threads subtitle. Rooting may have been involved but not sure beer was.

Evidently to some people, a woman can simultaneously be womanly and kickass.

To these people, a kickass woman has to be a man with breasts and nothing else....

To these people, the notion of such characters existing is pure heresy....

Oh wait, what about Wonder Woman, Batgirl / Oracle, Black Widow, etc ? These are all badass women and none of them look butch or like a man with breasts....

Whoops....

Avaline had a normal stance.

aveline1.jpg

So why can't Cass?

Maybe because Cassandra is more in touch with her feminine side, being raised as a girl, but also being taught how to kill Dragons, doesn't mean she needs to walk a certain way. Unless the Seekers tell her she can't strut why wouldn't she?

Aveline makes it very clear to us that she's terrible at girly things, or even alluring men, she plays it off by acting like it's whorish but hell she can barely talk to men if she likes them in a affectionate way.

It's not that Cass can't be feminine or isn't allowed to have a bit of a girly walk (well, for me at least). It's that it's so exaggerated.

Remember what happened when somebody gave f!Hawke's running animation to m!Hawke?

...Yeah.

Work it Hawke! :P

But yeah the exaggeration of the DA2 fem walk looked silly, it didn't annoy so much I couldn't play her though, I only used a fem Hawke myself. The fem running animation that we have seen so far in DAI doesn't irritate me all that much tbh, I can live with it. As for Cass welp as long as she kills stuff and thangs I don't really care how she walks, she'll be my main tank anyway, dat voice, yell at me Cass I don't mind.

...Yeah.

ROFL. It doesn't work nearly as well on Male Hawke.  He doesn't have the hips for it and has a twig and berries between his legs which would probably make running like that more uncomfortable than not.

You are right that it is exaggerated but I think they wanted to make sure that people could easily distinguish the difference between a man and woman walking/running.

Yeah, Hawke was a bit ridiculous. How the game renders the female motions is something to be discussed, but I do imagine whoever animated this had the best intentions.

What we should really take away from this is Cassandra hasn't been given male animations; you know, animations designed to be badass in a masculine way, and geared towards the female gaze. Doing that would be sort of wrong.

I've never been able to pin it down.

I don't know if I've had the best or worst of both worlds.
