Her facial features haven't changed that much from last year. It's mostly the lightning, facial animation (neutral in inventory screen) and skin tone that make it look softer (especially the skin tone).
Believe it or not look more aggressive with dirt in your face.
How is it sexist?
Duh, obviously?
Women just have to be feminine looking, pretty, soft, delicate etc.
Strong, tough, rough female characters get softened and "prettied" all the time and masculine features are considered as something terrible
Heck, her concept artist said that they tried to go away from this stereotype and give us a dominant, sharp-looking badass lady but... I guess people complained too much :/
Banter!

Eh. I think Cassandra would simply roll her eyes if the Inquisitor starting acting that way. I see the following scenario more likely.
Inquisitor:*idle, wandering hand on Cassandra's thigh*
Cassandra: *side-glance scowl* I know Sister Thera's sermons are boring, but surely you can at least pretend to pay attention. For the men's sake?
Inquisitor: I've been pretending for nearly an hour. She doesn't know when to end a speech....
Cassandra: She's learning. She'll never improve if she doesn't make mistakes first.
Inquisitor: But must her mistakes take so long.....
Cassandra: *Sigh, eye-roll* Keep your eyes straight ahead, your ears tuned out, and your hands to yourself, and I promise I'll make it up to you.
Inquisitor: And how are you planning to make up for this brand of torture?
Cassandra: *reaches over and wraps his hand in hers* I was thinking of reading something from the Canticle of Transfigurations. Verse twelve, specifically. "O Maker, hear my cry"
Inquisitor: *squints quizzically" Guide me through the blackest nights"?
Cassandra: *looks at Inquisitor specifically* 'Steel my heart against the temptations of the wicked'....
Inquisitor: *Looks right back, eyes widening* 'Make me to rest in the warmest places'.....*looks straight forward, putting his hands in his lap and remaining absolutely still*
Cassandra: *smirks, has an 'I win' look in her eye*
I guess I didn't expect something as sexist as changing a tough female character to be more feminine and "pretty" from Bioware
The developers tend to go through iterations on every character anyway.
I would argue that DAI Cassandra actually looks less traditionally feminine (but more beautiful) than DotS Cassandra and DA2 Cassandra.

I usually have no problem with that but I suspect one of the reasons is dudebros complaining she's not hot enough... that is not acceptable
She definitelly does... or did... in this screenshot she looks much more like her DoTS and DA2 versions... yay for continuity, I guess...

I think your overreacting to this screenshot of Cassandra
I think your overreacting to this screenshot of Cassandra
I think I have a reasonable fear that one of the badassest women-warriors in DA series (and many games for ages overall) got prettified unmasculined for the sake of fanservice
in one of the game play videos recently posted i noticed cassandra during a fight was regenerating a small bit of health, i wonder what skill that was as they had no potions left in that particular encounter. from that time onward pay close attention to Cassandra's health.

I never thought she was masculine in the first place.
think of it as a passionate investment to a character lol*playful shoulder tap*I think your overreacting to this screenshot of Cassandra

Women just have to be feminine looking, pretty, soft, delicate etc.
That's not what sexist means. And Cassandra doesn't look that way anyway. Plus did you see her in Dawn of the Seeker? She looked pretty feminine. As did she in DA ][.

She still has what her concept artists say they wanted.
Or your overreacting and refusing to hear other points of view while throwing a fit over one screenshot that frankly didn't givr a very close look of her features.
No, no I'm sure she'll be giggling all the time in game and skipping around with a flowery sword of powah.
I guess I'm also quite upset that people actually think that making Cassandra softer and more feminine is a good idea
Because saying that a masculine-looking woman should be prettified is not sexist at all...

She hasn't drastically changed in appearance, her facial features are pretty much still there with a few tweaks

Ugh, yes, it does. Or, to be more precise, it's a part of the problem. Stereotypes that people of specific gender, race, class, age, etc should look like this or like that
DoTS was the anime. She also wore a frigging skirt which resulted in her wounding her leg.
She did look more feminine, but she still looked aggressive, dominant, dangerous. In DA2 mostly thanks to her make up, that was a nice touch
Personally, I think BioWare found a great blend of femininity and toughness for Cassandra.
Say what you will about her face (and walking animation, as some have pointed out, which I don't understand), but she's neither overly sexualized nor overly masculine. I believe those were the two most common concerns among us Pentaghastals (at least from different "factions").
She looks beautiful and tough, in my opinion. I do miss the scar, though.
Maybe she acquires it later? Perhaps our companions get some visible wear and tear over the course of the game to reflect the constant battles.
I never thought she was masculine in the first place.
That's because she was never presented as such in the first place, it's not masculine to be a good fighter, or to have a commanding voice. If anything she's just been tough, but that's not exclusive to masculinity. There have been many tough female characters who have still managed to stay obviously closer played to their feminine side. Jill Valentine, and most any woman from the Resident Evil games. animated depictions of characters like Chun-Li, or Cammy. Characters like Storm from the X-Men, or Rogue. There is nothing wrong with a woman being sexy and kick ass at the same time, and i don't understand where this need for women to discard their sexuality in order to be powerful stems from as one has nothing to do with the other.
Because that's surely what happened. Slightly softer features means she's turned into a piece of eye candy.
Because even adding small details can be bad enough. A character doesn't have to become a walking stereotype to be flanderized. A small touch, a small detail, a small element can mean a lot
It's all about the intentions and reasons. Sera getting lighter/darker during the concept art creation is no problem at all, despite what many people think. A character like Cassandra getting prettified due to some dudebros complaining she was "ugly" and women with big jaws "aren't people" etc is a problem
At least return dirt and a scar on her face. And aggressive make up, yeah

There is nothing wrong with women who combine both feminity and masculinity
Lack of women, who prefer being rough, who have sharp angles in the design, and don't have to have a hidden soft side on the other hand...

I think they have actually made her more androgynous than feminine.
