Oh please, her changes are nothing compared to how they changed Ash.
Yep. Kind of ridiculous we're comparing minor facial changes that aren't even that drastic to sudden long, flowing locks, a boob job, and botox lips.
Seriously smh.

Look at Korra from Legend of Korra as a good example of a woman who is quite feminine looking in the face yet is quite strong and fit looking without being overly masculine.
Err, and when did I said I hate such characters or don't believe they can't look good? I said lack of mostly masculine-looking female characters bugs me, not existance of andro-characters

You forgot to add a Miranda outfit ![]()
Until those changes also apply to Cassandra the comparison just falls flat

It's the same process but in different scale
Small details vs large details, but the change to make a female character more "attractive" nevetheless
You do realize that we use terms "femininity" and "masculinity" not because we believe they define the absoulte truth but because they contain a number of features which makes it easier to use in a conversation for easier understanding? And the the soceity actively uses them in this way, promotes what they are supposed to mean etc
Not to mention we aren't talking about sexuality. We're talking about gender and that due to how our culture works women who possess stereotypically masculine traits are considered "ugly" and "unacceptable", which results in a terrible lack of such characters and prettification of the existing ones
Which is a problem, not existance of feminine women, but lack of unfeminine ones
Perhaps your perception of femininity is too broad and your perception of masculinity is too narrow then because Cassandra looks androgynous to me. At the same time, she looks beautiful to me.
The moment when people are start comparing Cass to Ash is when I can't take them serious
That is ok I was not comparing them per se but the concept of changing someone features and animations to appease certain people.
This is when I cannot take the character serious either, the thing about Cassandra was her sharp profile, in all the character designs they talk about that. So ya not that surprised just a big "meh" feeling at this point.

It isn't the same process, Cassandra still looks the same
Cassandra is my DAI bae, stop dissing her people! ![]()
*tries to think of a kinky question to divert the discussion before it turns uglier*
Do you guys think she prefers to be on top or bottom? ![]()

Personal preferences don't really matter when we talk about general stereotypes, archetypes and tropes. To some people Fenris looked like an example of a manly man, personal perception doesn't really matter here. We aren't talking about personal tastes, I find ner Cassandra look more appealing, but it doesn't change my opinion - making a female character more "attractive" for the sake of fanservice, due to people complaining or due to some stereotypes and culturally accepted concepts - is just plain sexist. Depending o nthe scale of change it can be less terrible or more terrible but, eh, pretty bad nevetheless

Solas also did got tweaked a bit too.... at least to me he seemed quite different in the gameplays.
I think all the characters must have been tweaked a bit for the final version.

Yea, just about every companion plus the advisors got their appearance tweaked
It isn't the same process, Cassandra still looks the same
It is
The general concept is changing a character's appearance to make them more appealing. It can apply to both men and women, but generally happens to women due to the sexist idea that women have to be beautiful
Ashley was much more noticable because they went overboard. Cassandra was given softer facial features. A small detail but the same concept still
It is not a terrible thin on its own - characters are supposed to have a specific eye-catching look. But when it happens to due to some sexist/racist/homophobic/etc (poc become paler/women oversexualised/etc) reason or idea it turns ugly. Ashley change was plain ugly, Cassandra's one (if made due to people finding her too masculine) is just annoying
I hope this is just low resolution and not a final version so in the game she'll have her scars, tan, dirt and dark make up back
*tries to think of a kinky question to divert the discussion before it turns uglier*

Top. No doubt about it.
I don't understand the point of assigning certain ways of acting genders, anyways… seems silly, imo, but sadly inescapable in our present world. Oh well, whatever. Ignore me, I'm being all philosophical
Anyways, I'm fairly sure Casandra's going to be my favorite companion in DAI. I haven't really watched enough of the new gameplay vids to give an opinion on her walking animation. I'm not too worried, though.

I'm still not seeing any evidence of this supposed "fanservice" change. She is not more feminine than before, but more androgynous. They have accentuated both feminine and masculine traits. I don't think softer features=feminine features. Soft facial features exist in both women and men.
If they wanted to appeal to the supposed VAST number of complaining "dudebros" among the BioWare fanbase, they would have accentuated only feminine features.
I must say that her current appearance, minus the scar and tan, seems consistent with her character kit.

Never denied that
I'm just really sick of rough women getting prettier, softer etc
I hope I'm wrong and dudebros complaining have nothing to do with it

Dat scar tho.....

I feel that they wanted to keep her unique look but silence many complaines by giving her small and subtle changes
Also, it's not just tan. Eyeshadows are gone, or became smaller. And lack of scars is just plain... wrong... why?
unfeminine ones
Of everything you said this is the thing that keeps bothering me however it wasn't until now that you gave it a clear name. Unfeminine, unfeminine denotes that something is not feminine and is more closer to its opposite masculine, so lets clearly define in a non-sexual way what is masculine. synonyms associated with masculinity, "virile, macho, manly, muscular, muscly, strong, strapping, well built, rugged, robust, brawny, heavily built, powerful, red-blooded, vigorous." of all these things, she has what 2 of them "red blooded" and "strong." are these two things enough to make her unfeminine? in Dragon Age origins everyone had the same movements regardless of sex, race or age, in dragon age 2 aveline was notably less inclined to carry on like a woman, and her background and upbringing clearly showed it, but what you're saying is Cassandra should more like Aveline correct? My question still stands though why? Why is it so imperative that this particular character conform to this notion that she was at some point presented as more masculine than feminine?
top, she knows how to ride...*tries to think of a kinky question to divert the discussion before it turns uglier*

Power bottom.

What does dirt have to do with gender?! And wouldn't makeup accentuate her femininity?
I'm so confused ![]()
I do agree that she needs the scar. It highlights her personality.
