Young as in nowhere near 40. IDC about voices, honestly those can stay the same for a pretty long time.
I think 40 is pushing it for the Inquisitor.
I think a dev has given a wide age range though. Late teens to 30s. Can't find the post though.

I believe the Devs said the Inquisitors are normally around 30/40
and honestly, only the human rogue/warrior background specifically mentions where you are in a family. Dwarf, Qunari and Elf are kinda left... Vague. Like even Elf Mage is, just because you're a First doesn't mean you have to be young. The Keeper just might be an old bastard.

They said 20s to 40

OK, fair enough. I knew there was at least some statement on it.

No way the HI is anywhere near 30 or 40 and not already a member of the Chantry.

Hmm, doubtful considering it's a woman, but on a much more serious note, we'll probably actually meet her in game. I doubt most keepers work themselves to death when the next Keeper can take their place.

40 I understand, but why not 30? What is limiting your roleplaying so much?
It's also said the HI doesn't necessarily want to follow family steps. Maybe they've been jerking around for awhile.. until this new crisis came up. 30 isn't that old.

Just for reference, the VAs all fall around the 30-40 range as well.
Harry Henry-Paton -33
Alix Wilton Regan -28
Sumalee Montano -43
Not sure of Jon Curry's age.

I didn't know it was a woman who was Keeper of the Lavellan lot so my mistake.
That said, no reason for a Keeper to retire if they can still do their job just fine. Marethari was decently old by 2.
I can see some problems with a human Inquisitor being anywhere over mid-20s, but the other race's backstories don't seem to have any such restrictions in that regard tbh.
There was a mage-looking lady who showed up in Sabrae clan some time after Merrill left who I always assumed was Marethari's new First, and she looked pretty damn old herself. So I don't think the elven mage even has to be younger, necessarily.

You can't indoctrinate people at 30. Though to be honest I consider them to be 28ish. Good ripe age for forcing you to be chaste for the rest of your life.

But they are expected to be forced to anyway, probably because then if they don't they'll get cut out of the will. 30 is also pretty old to start a career in the clergy fi that's something your family forces on you.

Somehow I doubt she had a choice in the matter way out in the bad part of the Marches and on such short notice.

I don't even know where she could have possibly come from, seeing as that kinda thing usually happens at clan gatherings, and I don't believe there was one in that time frame.
But still, I don't think Keepers retire. If they're fairly old but still active, a la Marethari, I see no reason why they would. So...if you're First you're First, regardless of age, I suppose.

When it comes to mages, I don't think age is that much of an issue. Magic is mainly from the mind after all.
The age issue comes up when you are say a warrior or a rogue.
IDK, Marethari didn't really look that old. Merrill also wasn't fully trained or old enough herself, which was my point. There's definitely more leeway. Won't deny that.

That's not how magic works. It usually takes the equivalent amount of work to do similar things with magic as it does with, for lack of another term, ATP.
A youthful-looking cougar is best cougar
I'm kind of hoping that plays into the teasing she'll get from the party:
Varric: So does he like it rough?
Cassandra: What?
Varric: The Inquisitor, you two are a thing now right?
Cassandra: I don't see how its any of your business.
Varric: Come on Seeker, a woman like you with a young, handsome, conquering hero type? You get the picture.
Cassandra: No I don't get the picture dwarf.
Varric: So you'd say that whole mental image of you dressed in a tight leather outfit with a riding crop while the boss tied to the bedpost is inaccurate then?
Inquisitor: Now there's an idea...
Cassandra: You're not helping!
Varric: So do you try to stab him in the daddy bags too?

Spoiler
Cass just keeps looking better and better
Now that is a face of someone whose soul has been forged to withstand everything life has to throw at her ![]()
Also, dem eyebrows. I bet she has the Havelock Vetinari superpower of shutting up stupid people by simply lifting her brow
Don't understand your point. You don't have to be in the Chantry to be part of a strongly pro-Chantry family, and you don't have to be in the priesthood to be devout. You can't indoctrinate people at 30. Though to be honest I consider them to be 28ish. Good ripe age for forcing you to be chaste for the rest of your life.

The strangest thing is that I can easily picture her with a riding crop...

I think I see... For those guys, you die first so you are the First... I do not think that is the real meaning of this.
SHE IS EXTREMELY GORGEOUS WTF?! I litreally screamed when she started talking holy hell! I'm definitely running a straight male inquistitor run to romance her... WOW

Indoctrinate? lol what game are you talking about? It's just a religion. If you're already a Chantry believer, then that's all there is to it, dogma wise. As for joining a military order, that has nothing to do with indoctrination. Just discipline and commitment.
You don't have to be chaste all of your life either. They're not nuns and monks. Think Aveline and Wesley, for example. Or the dozens of Templars who visit whorehouses.
edit: Maybe you're confusing them with Catholic Knights Templar? They were, in fact, warrior monks.
Another screen... soo purdy
