Young as in nowhere near 40. IDC about voices, honestly those can stay the same for a pretty long time. 

I believe the Devs said the Inquisitors are normally around 30/40

and honestly, only the human rogue/warrior background specifically mentions where you are in a family. Dwarf, Qunari and Elf are kinda left... Vague. Like even Elf Mage is, just because you're a First doesn't mean you have to be young. The Keeper just might be an old bastard.

I think a dev has given a wide age range though. Late teens to 30s. Can't find the post though.

Hmm, doubtful considering it's a woman, but on a much more serious note, we'll probably actually meet her in game. I doubt most keepers work themselves to death when the next Keeper can take their place.

I didn't know it was a woman who was Keeper of the Lavellan lot so my mistake.

That said, no reason for a Keeper to retire if they can still do their job just fine. Marethari was decently old by 2.

I can see some problems with a human Inquisitor being anywhere over mid-20s, but the other race's backstories don't seem to have any such restrictions in that regard tbh.

 

There was a mage-looking lady who showed up in Sabrae clan some time after Merrill left who I always assumed was Marethari's new First, and she looked pretty damn old herself. So I don't think the elven mage even has to be younger, necessarily.

40 I understand, but why not 30? What is limiting your roleplaying so much? 

You can't indoctrinate people at 30. Though to be honest I consider them to be 28ish. Good ripe age for forcing you to be chaste for the rest of your life.

But they are expected to be forced to anyway, probably because then if they don't they'll get cut out of the will. 30 is also pretty old to start a career in the clergy fi that's something your family forces on you.

But still, I don't think Keepers retire. If they're fairly old but still active, a la Marethari, I see no reason why they would. So...if you're First you're First, regardless of age, I suppose.

IDK, Marethari didn't really look that old. Merrill also wasn't fully trained or old enough herself, which was my point. There's definitely more leeway. Won't deny that.

That's not how magic works. It usually takes the equivalent amount of work to do similar things with magic as it does with, for lack of another term, ATP.

Don't understand your point. You don't have to be in the Chantry to be part of a strongly pro-Chantry family, and you don't have to be in the priesthood to be devout.

The HI origin says you are the youngest son of the family. I'm the youngest son in my family and I'm 42.

My HI is gonna be 40. Can't wait to play an older character for once.
