I actually did read it, but I'm not going to respond to every point in it, is what I'm saying.

Ah, so let me correct my suggestion then:

I'm too tried to respond to your whole post, sorry.

But more to the point, it's 12 AM and I really didn't come into the Cassandra thread to discuss multiple essays about how a leader can be weak and somehow still be a comtent leader.

If you're going to stop now, you shouldn't have said anything to begin with.

I liked you before, but I don't know, man. Once you start telling me to conform to a specific story type, it sets me off. I don't play RPGs to conform (except to what the writers allow, of course). I also wished you asked to clarify instead of reading too much into it.

I still love you Br3admax. Even if you start and suddenly end pointless arguments.

What are you talking about? I don't care about what you do in a game I'll never see. I said it's not a smart thing to do and asked why. I think you're the one reading too much into it.

Lulz, wasn't expecting an essay tbh. Caught me off guard.

I believe the disconnect here is that all StreetMagic said was that he wanted his Inquisitor to be a bit like Alistair and let someone else, in this case Cassandra, take the lead. Somehow that got turned into having a sub fetish. How, I don't know. I blame internet rule 34.

To address the original idea of having an Inquisitor who doesn't really want to be there, it's an interesting choice. And at least in the beginning scene that we saw, there's dialogue to support it, such as hating the mark and wishing you could get rid of it. It seems likely that at first you can be quite reluctant, but it remains to be seen whether Bioware will support it through the rest of the game. I have to say though, I do think it's unlikely Cass would respect such a move by the Inquisitor. I feel like she would think you were abdicating your responsibility.

If that's how you think, then OK then. Commenting on my story choice seemed like like you were coming to my.. game space if you will. Like it personally bothered you or something. It got more annoying when that other dude thought I fit some "pattern".

We were talking about romance? And...I'm done. My bad.

Yeah, and I find even her disapproval an interesting dynamic.

I don't know how long I would maintain it though. I have to finish the game, after all.  B)

Cass showing disapproval doesn't mean you couldn't successfully romance her. After all, just look at how much disapproval you could gain with Morrigan in DA: O and yet still successfully romance her.

Funny thing is, I hate Alistair.. He's one of my least favorite DAO characters.

I just thought it'd be interesting to be kind of in his shoes this time. I don't need to play the same character/hero archetype every game. That's boring. I want them all to be different.

I kind of agree with the hatred for alistair....  I used him because i hate tanking.... his character had a good sense of humor which was good for laughs, but i got tired of him whining late game about not wanting to be king and the whole hiding his birthright thing to prevent problems of succession....  Got on my nerves really

Yeah..

It's just.. I try to approach my characters the same way writers would. Alistair, for example, was written by Gaider. But he can wear many hats. He also wrote Morrigan, who hates Alistair. I try to shift modes the same way with my own concepts. So this time around, I'm going to identify with Alistair a little more.

Then i think cass would be calling the kettle black, abdicating her spot in leading the inquisition and giving it to the inquisitor in the first place

I don't know, maybe because it can. How other people choose to roleplay seems to bother you.

And maybe reconsider what constitutes as a collection.

I'm pretty sure it will be impossible to be a wimp. This is a Bioware game. With VO. It's just not happening.

I've seen a lot of inquisitor concepts where the inquisitor is timid, shy and submissive. Seems very...implausible.

Personally, I never said anything about submissiveness. I said reluctant leader. Wary of the Herald of Andraste title. Nothing controversial here.

How that turned into a dispute of alpha and beta males, and virtual penis size of my Inquisitor, I don't know. For fucksake.

What do you mean "concepts"? The VO is assertive and the dialogue options set you up to be the hero and leader. Neither Hawke nor Shepard could be wimps. It required an impressive level of head canon to pretend the Warden is a wimp.

Concepts as in people planning their inquisitors.

I never planned my Warden to be a "wimp" either, but I did play my Dalish reluctantly. The story naturally flowed that way for me.. he hated getting recruited by Duncan. And he hated Alistair, his Shem sidekick. My Warden is a racist elf, who slowly grew into a better role. Instead of being instant Robot Jesus right off the bat.

People are free to imagine, obviously, but I think they're going to be disappointed

Obviously being a wimp is off the table.. but there's always room to roleplay something other than Instant-Ultimate-Badass-From-Birth. There's always an option to grow into a role, instead of embracing things readily.

Unless it's an action adventure game. As far as I can tell it isn't. It's an RPG. You have room to craft characters (not total freedom, but some psychological inclinations).
