So.I think it was David Gaider or mentioned there was a story element as to why Cassandra is not the leader of the inquisition that will be touched upon in the game. I wonder what that will do not just romance wise but relationship period. At any attempt intention is to make her my second in command if I can.

I assumed that she is not the leader because she can't close the rifts like the inquisitor can, and maybe because se is a hand of the divine and that would make her position too much aligned to chantry interest, so its better to have a more "neutral" person cause, as far as I know, the inquisition is an independant organization.

I believe that Cassandra and Leliana have left the Chantry completely to focus their efforts on the Inquisition, most likely due to Divine Justinia's death.

I think Cassandra is not leading the Inquisition because she is used to being the right hand of the the Divine and following her orders, and therefore feels more comfortable being the right hand of the Inquisitor, rather than the leader herself.

I don't see how being able to close the rifts makes you qualified to be a leader of a powerful organization, making military and political decisions. It qualifies you to be a part of that organization, and indeed makes you the single most valuable asset of that organization, but there is a difference between that and being a leader.

Chances are the Inquisitor will prove themselves leadership material during the beginning of the game.

Then we'll just have to wait and see exactly what else makes the Inquisitor so qualified to be the head, errr, inquisitor... gal/guy. Apart from the portal-powers and namesake. : )

Maybe this is the first Dragon Age when you're not quite such an underdog at the start. Not a general or anything, but not an impoverished inner-city elf or homeless refugee either.

On side note: Page 68 of this thread is one of the most curiously off-topic, yet strangely charming and confusing pages I've seen in a long while. : )

The fact that we're going to be at the peace summit to begin with leads me to believe we're someone of some importance, possessed of some authority. Perhaps just as some head of security, though mages might actually be mid level leaders in the rebellion itself.

Though it might be that we're just meant to be a figure head with Cassandra being intended to be the true, behind the scenes leader. If that's the case, I hope she accepts disappointment with grace.

Somebody's gotta give us the quests :P Would be hilarious for a change if the Inquisitor was the quest giver themself.

That was sort of BioWare intention actually. I doubt it's going to work that way though, because it requires in-game knowledge of the plot in advance, which means that someone (or many people) are going to feed that knowledge and actually give you the quest in reality.

I don't really understand how Cassandra could be the "behind the scenes leader" or anything like that. What if you don't want to do anything she tells you to do? I mean, the games are kind of about player choice. It doesn't make much sense to have a companion as the one in charge. That's basically why they had to contrive a reason for Alistair to take your lead in Origins even though he was your senior as a warden.

I think one of the reasons is gonna be that Cassandra simply doesn't want to lead. It could be a reason why she wouldn't want the Nevarran crown.

My main point is that she won't be. In story it could be that she was intended to be by the Divine or whoever, but the Inquisitor quickly proves that he's not just a figure head or a puppet.

In DA2, Varric gave you most of the main quests. He didn't exactly talk to you about it (except one or two), but if you looked at your journal once in a while, the rumors were all coming from Varric. You couldn't disagree with him over them or anything, they just "popped" when it was time to do them.

Also, I expect much sparks, fire and probably knifing between Cassandra and an Inquisitor who is not interested into doing his job.

Varric might be the one suggesting a lot of the things you do, but he's definitely not the one deciding what course to take once you get there. To be in charge you sort of have to be the one making the decisions, not just suggesting a destination. Varric went along with anything Hawke wanted with less resistance than most other companions. If Cassandra is just pointing you in certain directions and you're making all the calls once you get there, that's not really being in charge. It might be like Fiend suggested, that it was intended and didn't come through.

Cassandra might rebel, but all that ever really means is a dead companion. Not saying I want that, though, I never kill anyone if I can help it.
