Marriage is kind of overrated, honestly.
It has a special touch, but I don't need it to validate feelings for that person.

Alistair couldn't remain in the Wardens because Ferelden doesn't belong to the Wardens.
Well Ferelden doesn't belong to Alistair either. *raises a tower shield and hides behind it*
Well, it could be explained as Orlais having hunted the rest of the royal family down during the occupation.
Yeah. Guess that makes sense.
Didnt swotr have marriage? Seems feasible if the did ot like that
Yep, you could choose to bring up marriage or not, totally up to you whether you marry your LI.
Best way to handle that as far as i'm concerned.
seems like a compromise imoYep, you could choose to bring up marriage or not, totally up to you whether you marry your LI.

Too bad we can't do the same in this game.

Yep quite a shame, would have added a nice touch.
I hope we can at least bring it up, even if the follow up never happens in game.

I believe most would agree.

Yeah, but instead I have to play yet another protagonist who either 1) is not like me, or 2) is forever alone. ![]()
We still don't know if we can talk about it.
Only that we won't have an actual marriage happening.
Super-Pumped
I think there's just too much going on for marriage to be a realistic thing to do. I assume, you can imagine it to happen after the Elder One is defeated, or w/e... lol, we don't even know if he... it? will be defeated. Besides, having someone chant over you on the eve of battle won't make that night better, nor will it increase your chances of survival. The logical part of my mind is screaming "pointless".
But like I said, as of yet, I've seen nothing that says it couldn't potentially happen later.
Inquisitor and LI stand and kiss before a crowd. Fade to black. Cue credits. ...I can see why they avoided that whole thing.
Yeah , but when the Marriage topic came out a while back . peoples wanted to be Married and adventuring . Not just some cutscene in the end . Kinda like Skyrim , taking wifey with ya everywhere .
I see too many issues with marriage in a game..to say 'Yeah I want it too' .
But thats just me...
Edit: I be referring to mah Sera as wifey in game
Dont need the chantry blessing !

Well i'd be fine with it not happening as an in-game scene, the situation being what it is (End of the world, demons pouring through the fade etc'), hell marrying Alistair or Anora never happens in game, there no scene just a slide at the end and some changes to dialogue in game.
That hardly seems like too much to hope for, and most likely it’s optional which should reduce the "hate" factor against it if it’s in game.
Edit: Damn it you double ninjaed me! ![]()
Honestly, I see marriage as being in conflict with the game's themes and mood. Roaming around with your happy family, skinning nugs and busting demons just entirely contradicts the tone they're going for.Yeah , but when the Marriage topic came out a while back . peoples wanted to be Married and adventuring . Your opinion. One I disagree with.
Marriage really only matters for the symbolism it brings, in this day and age, than what marriage is actually supposed to be for. Sure you can say the fact that it's open to me makes me not appreciate it, but I can say the fact that I've seen what it does to people makes me not want it.
Probably , doesnt stop peoples from wanting it .
Like I said...it was voiced merely.....

Won't work. The game continues after the main quest is completed so there is no epilogue like in Origins.

Again, your opinion.
While you may have had negative experiences with it, others have had positive experiences with it.

That would be an issue, still Cass being the romantic she is would likely want to make things offical when the chaos simmers down, which is why i hope we at least get the chance to bring it up. (Hell she might bring it up herself)
Oh and Br3admax, You need to take into account that the institution of marriage in Theadas seems be alive and kicking and very relevent , comparing it to the state of the institution in real life is doing it a disservice.
That's fine. Personally I think anything that fails half the time isn't worth it, but I wouldn't dream of trying to stop anyone else from having a go at it.
@above: Marriage in Thedas is described to be outside of love, for the most part, so what are you trying to argue? Marriage is a system to make more children in Thedas.

A bastard son of a king with an actual claim to the throne? I'd take that over a daughter of former poacher any day.

So in other words, never?
And I doubt it.
