A bastard son of a king with an actual claim to the throne? I'd take that over a daughter of former poacher any day.
And I take someone with actual experience over someone who doesn't.

The incompetent spineless bastard son of a king versus the highly politically skilled daughter of a poarcher? I'll take the later over the former any day.

So in other words, never?
And I doubt it.
Pessimistic out of caution eh?
That's fine. Personally I think anything that fails half the time isn't worth it, but I wouldn't dream of trying to stop anyone else from having a go at it.
@above: Marriage in Thedas is described to be outside of love, for the most part, so what are you trying to argue? Marriage is a system to make more children in Thedas.
I'm not trying to argue anything, i'm just pointing out that dismissing marriage in Theadas because of the state of its real world equivalent seems odd.
And if marriage happened with our LI in Theadas it would be a case of Love and Children (up to the player), a double whammy if you will.
Thing is, we don't know how high she is in the succession line. For all we know, there are actually 50 other Pentaghast ahead of her. Alistair (*shivers*) was the only surviving son of Maric, as far as we know. Cassandra's situation is totally different.
I looked this up. You're right, there are many members of Pentaghast and Van Markham family who would love to take the throne. Looks like I jumped ahead too far.

What one calls being "highly politically skilled", another would call "willing (or, rather, able) to step on anyone to get her way, regardless of who that might be."
You could, of course, argue that this is the so-called "political savvy", but I'd describe it differently, had the forum guidelines not stop me from it.

Its politics. In those times it was often nothing more than screwing over other people in order to get somewhere.

Well that as well as reading into what Allan said on the matter when I made a thread about the subject.
Then again that was the thread where I lost respect for Allan but I digress.
Also when is the last time Thedas has had the chaos simmer down?
I doubt that the Mortalitasi mages or the rival Van Markham family would let a former Seeker of the Pentaghast family rule the country, especially if she's in a relationship with an elf, qunari, or dwarf.
I've heard somewhere in one of the gameplay videos (can't remember which( that there's an operation of the war table to eliminate the influence of the Mortalitasi mages on the king of Nevarra for suspicion being in cahoots with The Elder One, either by sending Josephine to advise the king not to listen to these mages, or send Leliana to assassinate these mage advisors.

Actually, guys, was it ever explained how did the extinct house of the Warrior caste suddenly resurface centuries after its demise?
But also when is the last time Thedas has had the chaos simmer down?
Well, during the Tevinter hegemony they only had one civil war, that’s kind of peaceful...maybe, if you ignore the darkspawn fiasco that is.
If They were exiled, and went in the surface, the Orzamma dwarves have no way (or interest) to know if They house still exist.Actually, guys, was it ever explained how did the extinct house of the Warrior caste suddenly resurface centuries after its demise?
