Companions don't teach specialization. I'm not even sure if the quest to get them is that extensive either.

Cassandra doesn't teach you the specialization either, though. Cullen could still be your mentor...don't know why you would want him to.

He could teach us the fine art of delegating, and getting other people to do your work for you.

I hope they're available early on and not too hard to get. I wouldn't mind spending time learning templar stuff with Cass, if that's how they were doing it, but it sounds like it's not.

I just want to be a templar. If I have to learn it from Cullen, then I guess that'd be okay.

I'm still glad that Cassandra is not a lyrium addict, but still able to use templar abilities to combat mages. It's an important part of her occupation, but I didn't want her to have that kind of thing following her. Might have made nice drama, but I'm glad it won't come up.
Cullen, however, is pretty much screwed. No pun intended.

Wait, was that confirmed that she doesn't need lyrium dust?

Seekers don't need to use lyrium to use Templar powers

Stupid Seeker Lambert didn't that's forsure....
What exactly is the deal with Lyrium addiction is it a lose/lose where continual use leads to death/early death
yet stopping use leads to weakness and death/early death? Or can Templars live out rather long-ish lives so-long as
their Lyrium addiction is met?

Yup.
Holy crap. That's awesome. And a little weird. If the seekers figured out how to do it without being addicted, why didn't the Templars do it the same way?

They probably could, but it would make sense for the Chantry to want a way to control the Templars in case they ever thought about going rogue.

As evidenced by the fact that it totally stopped them from going rogue...wait. >_>;

Cullen can only teach the drug addict version.
The Templars are a noble and just order.
Not to mention he has been a Templar for a decade, I bet he would be a suitable mentor.

That says she doesn't have the risk of the addiction, not that she doesn't need Lyrium to use the Templar abilities

It's probably more expensive or dangerous the Seeker way

Possible. Either way, I'm happy addiction isn't a risk, according to the Seeker method. She can't quit it whenever she wants.

Prolonged usage (aka ingestion) of lyrium is addictive. Even mages can be addicted to lyrium. I don't think the writers planned a 180 on the lore just so Cassandra doesn't have to be addicted to lyrium (on top of having to explain why nobody else ever discovered that secret in like 1500 years).
