Well, basically he said asking for marriage to be in the games was "disrespectful to the LGBT community". There was a lot more in the PM he sent, but I'd rather not go into details otherwise be angry for the rest of the day. 

Wow. Gotta say I disagree vehemently if that's what he said. Marriage is a very different thing in a midevil fantasy world than in the real world. Sounds like that is projecting more real-world morality on Dragon Age than he should. But, having not seen the actual post, this is only second-hand opinion.

 

It was kind of down to making a poor comparison by saying "we waited for LGBT stuff, and we got it" and then "so we can wait for marriage stuff, and we might get that too" which led to people claiming that it was as if these things were being considered of equal importance.  People got really angry about it and Allan stepped in.  The whole thing went overboard and the thread was closed.

Yeah.  That's a big difference in saying 'Asking for marriage is disrespectful to the LGBT community' and 'Comparing importance of a marriage mechanic to the LGBT community is disrespectful'.

Thank you, Ynqve. Having read Allen's statement, I still disagree with him, and I think he's being as close-minded as the people he was arguing with. That being said, I do see where he's coming from. Doesn't affect my dissenting opinion in the slightest, though. Moving on...

 

To bring this back to Cassandra, the kind of marriage-related dialogue that would have made me happy doesn't even involve an actual wedding. To me, after the initial courting, as well as the (optional)horizontal tango, comes discussion about marriage and children. To me, it's a natural part of the relationship, and at some point, every couple has to have a talk about it. To me, it feels like an incomplete romance without at least some mentioning of it. But it is hardly crucial or even plot-related. So I doubt that Bioware will even touch the topic.

 

This is the kind of talk I would have liked, however:

 

Cassandra: Have you put any thought towards marriage, Inquisitor?

Inquisitor response 1(diplomatic): A little. How about you?

Cassandra: I have. And I'd like to be married, someday. When our world is not under such a threat.

One little bit of dialogue. That's all I'd like. But I'm perfectly capable of headcanoning my own happily ever after. I've had to do it for every Bioware game since Jade Empire.

I believe that people shouldn't have sex before marriage. Yet in pretty much every Bioware game you have to have pre-marital sex to continue the romance. I would like the option to play as my lifestyle.
