Just as i didn't care what Lucas thought.
Because my logic is this.
You permit these people to use your name, your brand after receiving monetary payment from them to do so.
Their additions thus become part of said franchise.
The EU is no more "non canon" then the movies because if it was rendered non canonical and thus not part of the franchise, do you realize the amount of reimbursement that Disney would pay to those who bought into the franchise through Lucas publishing/ arts?
Those debts, those pledges don't disappear merely because Disney bought the Franchise.
Lucas avoided all that backlash mainly by skirting the issue for years.
Timonthy Zahn would likely warrant enough to make the Banking Clan wince
