I don't see why she can like a variety of things that are classified as "romantic"; I wouldn't be surprise if there's a bit of a blend of sunsets and epic fights in her interests. I doubt she'd be as sappy romantic and girly as Leliana was in Origins, but a degree of fondness for some of the sunset-type things seems like it wouldn't totally be out of place.

I think she'll be more sappy than Leliana from what we've heard about her character. The Walking Tall video suggests as much about her.

Perhaps. We'll have to wait and see. Point is though, I don't see why she can't be multiple kinds of romantic. Speaking as a very non girly-girl who has a romantic streak of various kinds, myself. I enjoy a sappy love song and I love fighting with swords. It's certainly plausible and far as we've seen, consistent with her character by my measure.

I hope you can have drinks with your companions not just Cassandra but the whole party.
Come to find out who the happy drunks are and who the "You don't know me man." drunks are.
Also competitive drinking each other under the table should be encouraged at Skyhold.

Watching a sunset is romantic.
Killing things heroically is romantic too.
Which one do you think Cassandra will go for?
Watching the sunset atop a dragon you just killed? Or perhaps she's similar to Brianna from KOTOR 2 and enjoys sparing?

Cassandra was described as a closet romantic meaning she'd probably dismiss all manner of mushy stuff in public, but would probably be melting from all of the feels going on inside.

They don't create those spells. Say to say, if they did, they would be stunted hedge mages. Once you learn a way of performing magic, that's it.
It's all I meant too, when I said I'd like a creation mechanic. Utilizing existing paradigms in new ways. Combining two (or more) elements to create a new effect. Like an artist with a palette. Not someone making new artistic supplies from scratch, per se. That would be cool too, but I'm being realistic about it. That's like minecraft level of customization.

Even if a such a thing were possible, and I doubt, that puts in a lot of serious balancing issues. No class should be superior to another gameplay wise.

It is possible. Even crappy games like Two Worlds have done it. Card based games are based on the basic idea too. There was even a superhero game awhile back that attempted it. I think the closest DA has come was the secret spell "storm of the century" in DAO. It's just one instance, but I'd like to see more things like that.
As for balance, I think the more you expand one idea, then new ideas come up for other forms of combat too. For example, with more power given to mages, then designers can rethink how Templars could be more useful and tweak their skills as well. At the end of the day though, it's not competitive or an MMO. Mages are supposed to be scary.
edit: There was more DAO combos than I thought. I had no idea about a few of these.

Given how Cassandra and Leliana have some manner of rivalry I'm wondering if we'll hear them bantering at the war table:
Leliana: You two are so cute together!
Cassandra: What?
Leliana: You and the Inquisitor. I knew you were a big softie under that grumpy exterior.
Cassandra: Sister Leliana now is not the time for such things!
Josephine: It's too late now, she'll be like this for days.

Cross class combos aren't the same as you yourself being able to destroy scores of enemies in a party based game, which isn't balance. You can solo DA:O after level 14, and that is by no means generous, as a mage. DA:O is a terrible example of balance.
As for what I meant by possible, it doubt you're able to combine magic like that on your own. It was already possible to do it as a party.

You can combine them on your own in DAO. It depends if you trained in the right skills.
I don't have a concern with balance though, so fair warning, you're talking to a brick wall in this case. I like playing different classes for the paradigms and..umm.. "lifestyles" they represent. I'm more concerned with roleplaying possibilities. I still like the idea of sword combat, and no lack of power would ever change that. Nor do I really care about balance in singleplayer games to begin with. The worst that could happen is someone complains on a forum. Sucks to be them, I guess.

It was romantic in the secondary sense of the word, i.e., "of, characterized by, or suggestive of an idealized view of reality". She didn't think it was sweet and tender that Hawke straight up murdered the Arishok 1 v 1.

When I think of the use of romantic here, I just think of Don Quixote.
But I'm sure there's a bit of the other use of romance as well. Depends on context, I guess. A romantic is always a romantic in both senses.

And the winner will be either Iron Bull or Blackwall. Or maybe Varric, after all those years training by actually living on a tavern.

Strangely enough, my favorite screenshot might be the one where all you can see is their backs as they stroll around; probably due to how casual and confortable they look like.
Dialogue by Bioware has been great but the two characters just standing still, talking can get old. I hope there are opportunities to interact with the environment during dialogue; just a casual stroll around would be welcome.

Cassandra has been a romantic in that sense of the word in-game and in DotS. Her black&white view of reality. Her idolization of her brother (and the Chantry going by DotS).
I think too many people think romantic is all about love, but it's not.
