Rift Mage is cooler.
Knight Enchanter is like playing a Jedi Consular who think he/she is Gandalf.
How can something be cooler than that?
On the other hand, it sounds like Rogues could tear them up. They're still Dodge based, right?
Rogues? Oh yes. Especially with the subterfuge tree.

I think the shield warriors might have a tougher chance against something like that. You want burst damage, not attrition or trying to lock them down.
I think either warrior would have a tough fight though, now looking at those powers.

Against rogues? Yup. Plus, upgraded Stealth gets rid of all debilitating effects on the rogue.

Oh, I meant KE.. but it applies to rogues as well. Kill them fast if you can. ![]()

Oh, and if you whack KEs while they have a barrier up, you get whacked back! ![]()

In an actual competitive situation, I could see that going either way. A lot of people panic when getting whacked by a 2handed warrior. They don't think to fire up a spell like that (the ones who do make it a real fight, of course). I'd be more worried about spells that even an idiot can win with. Like the Spirit blade.

Except Veiled Riposte isn't an activated spell. It's a passive, so whenever you have Barrier up, you can reflect damage.
Idiots can't use Spirit Blade anyway.

What do you mean? It's just a sustained and swing attack, right? These are more natural actions for any gamer. Defenses and barriers don't register to some people as quickly.

Wait.. what?
That's just ****** up then. lol
edit: Oh wait, Barrier is active then. My point still stands.

All these things happen before combat even starts. And gameplay elements aside, the Chantry doesn't make just anyone a Knight Enchanter. They already have to be excellent mages in other combat situations.

Most mages would still put on a barrier before even entering combat so, I still win. ![]()

I'm talking about a hypothetical PvP situation. The way people react in certain types of fights.
My view on lore is mages should be superhero powered and kick everyone's ass by default.

How much mana does it cost? And how often would they do it while trying to kite?

Most people spam spells. You'd never stand a chance. There's just no way for you to win this, man. You pull them in close, they detonate barriers, you try to keep a safe distance, they hit you with immolate, All of your defenses are useless. Distance does not spare you. Melee will end you. These spells will wreck you. KEs have an answer to any dilemma, unless it's how to make the enemy survive longer. But if you think of anything they can't adapt to, I'll give it the credit it's due.

Uh.. Are you channeling Kanye? ![]()
I feel like I was dissed by an MC.
Anyways, it's why I'm asking questions about cooldowns and such. I don't know how often they can spam these spells. Even then, I don't think Warriors are built to fight these guys. I'm just thinking of how it could play out in their favor. Afaik, Rogues are naturally suited against them.

Cassandra will crush any mages she encounter.
She's a mage killing machine...has shown by DotS.

She lost her dual wielding and beserker skills. These KEs seem specifically made to kill shield warriors.. and it doesn't seem that much better for 2handers.
It's okay. Embrace death with dignity.

I just need more facts on their specs to fully accept death.
I don't think you can spam all of these spells, for one.
And the one thing these warriors have in their favor is HP. It could even be a gargantuan amount of HP, if Cass or PC Inquisitor are like Aveline.
wrong, she is a dragon, demon, mage killing machineCassandra will crush any mages she encounter.

Have you never played mage before? They most certainly can.

Did I mention KEs have the only healing spell in game. Kind of important to just throw that in now. No mana required.
wrong, she is a dragon, demon, mage killing machine
What I'll remember forever from DotS is how she sucks at aerial attacks though. *coughs*
