A really big demon?
Greater pride demon, perhaps?

One thing I'm curious about.
World of Thedas specifically mentions that the King of Nevarra is on his deathbed and without any direct heirs, the country is on the verge of a major succession crisis. Given that we have a member of the Nevarran royal family in our party, this seems like too obvious a plot hook not to come up.
Now, I'm not saying we're going to have an Alistair situation, but I'd bet cash money that this will be a part of Cassandra's personal quest.
She would likely suggest putting her reluctant uncle on the throne rather then taking it herself.
He is a capable and well respected Leader, seems pretty conclusive that she has accepted where she is as of DAI, and that isn't in Nervarra's Capital.

Oh, I am counting on it. They timed this just perfectly. It means we get to see Nevarra!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the impression she was from a distant branch of the house. Not close enough to claim the throne at least.
I imagine overwhelming numbers and the element of surprise will also play a factor in the demon's victory.
The great demon?
*shakes fist* Damn you Ser Conrad!
I have been wondering, what COULD overwhelm such people?
Greater pride demon, perhaps?
Despair demons, nightmares, and similar innovations all seem pretty scary.

I do think we will venture north of Orlais, even if not as far as Tevinter. Having Cassandra in the party will prove very interesting then.
Hmmm...
Are those... husks?

Like I said, I don't think we're going to have an Alistair situation; i.e., we're not going to put her on the throne.
But I still think it'll play a part. Perhaps we need to help put someone close to her in the family on the throne both 'for the good of the nation' and so we have someone sympathetic on the Nevarran throne to lend support to the Inquisition.
Hmmm...
I don't think undead were necessarily a problem. Remember, Adrian disintegrated a crap ton by herself with just one Inferno spell.
Snip
I don't take screen shots or game demo footage overly serious until its actually confirmed to be in game.
I'm of the mind we will actually see what happens when DAI releases.

There are people who want her family deposed. Somehow I doubt she will like that idea.

As I said, those look like husks. The Reapers mustn't be far.

That said...I wouldn't mind marrying into the royal line and being the future Queen's Bu wouldn't likely be much of a shortcoming for the Inquisition.
Would be interesting if you could suggest taking the Throne, she doesn't have the strongest tie by blood, but if certain things befell certain people, she would be closest in line.
Who said anything about undead? Those look like poses and facial expressions of people who are suddenly and horrifically dying.
Inquisitor immune to disintegration semiconfirmed.

You mean the family of the Bedridden king's advisers that are running the country in all but name anyway?
Why wouldn't they want to continue pulling the strings of a puppet king like Eamon?

If the family is big enough, that might involve a lot of convenient accidents.

The Van Markham want to rule, and some think it is past time some other clan ruled Nevarra. According to World of Thedas, anyway.

Touche...perhaps the Fade tear absorbs the life force of those near to it?

The thing is, They DO rule.
Said as much in WOT.
I'm asking why would they depose the longest running dynasty in Thedas in a Nation where its immensely popular?
Seems like asking for a revolution to me, but then again people in DA tend to do stupid ****.

Only three confirmed living members of it, including her.
One's a dying king and the other is a fellow who has no interest in the Throne.

Well then. That places her very high up indeed. We've had Alistair and Sebastian so far. Maybe Cassandra is just continuing that tradition of reluctant heirs.
