That's the kind of thing you can do when the characters don't speak. Aerith was a good way to surprise players, it wasn't a good death scene.

I never said i wanted her to get a "good" death; if anything i would want it to be something exactly in that fashion, i'd want it to engage the player on the dynamic that life can be snuffed out in an instant.

That someone even as hardened and seasoned as Cassandra can just be caught off guard and killed like a dog.

I'm of the mind that most deaths in modern media glorify the subject: Be it war, conflict, combat or death it self, i'd want bloody, unexpected and ultimately unfullfilling, because even if you gut the man who put her into the dirt, she is still going to be dead.

That sounds like a great way to lose customers.

But it's not glorifying war with demons or anything? The entire subject is to glorify. No one needs to learn the harsh brutal lessons of life from their entertainment. I'm all for realistic people, but the second a party member that I center a team around dies in an instant for no reason but just because war is bad, the game's gone a little too far.

Game of Thrones. Walking Dead.

Both of those people go in knowing that more than half the cast will die. Bioware has never gone games like that, and are beloved for it.

Personally, I've had enough deaths from Bioware stories. And mysterious disappearances. Would be nice to see a clear sense of continuity for a change.

I know that we'll be able to continue post-main quest. Which is a good sign. Apparently the world goes on. And hopefully my team will too.

I like the drama of Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, but sometimes I just want Star Trek too.

If the entire team in Mass Effect 2 was able to survive what was beaten into our heads the whole game a suicide mission, I'm sure there is a way for the whole team to survive this too. Especially since like ME2 the game continues after the main quest is completed.

That ultimately pissed me off though. My ME2 team might as well have been dead in ME3. I spent most of the game with people I didn't even like or know.

I'm interested to see how the insta-gameover sequences are, since DA:I is supposedly having it

Especially in ME3, goddamnson. Never play default.

I didn't play default. It just that my favorite characters were reduced to short cameos. Not everyone can win, I guess. It was a sad way to leave the series. Far more than the whole ending drama (which didn't bother as much). Kinda expected to go out on a bigger bang than that.

I wonder now just how Cass could die in game.

I can picture many scenarios.

here is something I hope we learn IG: what does Cassandra think of the Mortalitasi. IIRC she has a strong dislike towards mages, of any kind due to past events. On the other hand being a Nevarran, the Mortalitasi are respected and connected to the royal family, her family. Especailly if one plays a necromancer this just makes me curious about her feelings on them. so here is hoping she addresses that. :)

No, she kind of grew past hatred long ago. DotS begins with her mentor advising her to get past it, and ends with her learning the lesson. She's a Seeker. Not a garden variety Templar. She cares about the right application of chantry law. Not blind hatred. Which means cracking down on corrupt Templars as well as corrupt mages.

Hard to say about the mortalitasi though. We're almost sure to find out in game.

I played the others on the 360, so imagine my surprise after popping the disk into my PS3. Death. You think cameos are bad....

Cassandra got over her mage issues 20 years ago. She's the one that suggests going to the mages for help in the first place.

Ah did not know that. Thanks :) Still I am curious to see what information Cassandra can tell us about the mortalitasi.

Miranda Lawson/Cerberus fans got royally shafted. Her quest was a part 2 of her Loyalty mission. Hardly any growth or development. And her spot on the roster was taken by Calamari Sue and Joker's sex doll. Cerberus' nuance was completely thrown out the window as they became the mustache twirling villains Paragons always wanted them to be (I'm somewhere in the middle of the Karma meter). Despite ME3 being the best looking game of the series for me it was the least played.

I'm more of a Jack and Grunt fan, but I wanted much better development for Cerberus and Miranda too. That was pathetic really.

Other then the ME thing...you expressed my thoughts so well I did not even know I really had them.  Especially in her 'replacement'.  I would have given anything to have Miranda on the squad rather then Liara.  Especially Liara.  Though a squad of Feron/ Miranda instead of Liara/ EDI would have been interesting too.

I like Jack too. But Miranda was my Shepard's girl for the series you know. He was the shock troop and she was the super spy. BioWare gave me the director's chair for two games only to kick it from under me in the finale.

It was the same thing for me. The citadel dlc was my only salvation for me when it came to Miranda.

I don't think they realized how many people liked ME2. It's like they only heard good things about Lair of the Shadow Broker, and decided to just build upon that instead of the rest of ME2.
