Like any good Melee vs Magic contest, at Range, mage wins. all you need is one of those crazy Templar Rogues from DA:2 to sneak up and start spell breaking all the mages, and than rush with the heavies.

 

Dragon Age is the only setting that has a Lore Accurate Equality between the Martial and Magical.

lolno. We must not have been paying attention to the same Dragon Age. Templars win with overwhelming numbers and much superior training.

Ahem, correction. He only tore down Rhys' shield. That said, Rhys was channeling a lot more magic than most mages at that moment, so it's still rather remarkable.
