I think the game will rain Knight Enchanters.

I'm going Winter/Something. I just loved my ice focused Mage in DAO and was really sad that they only got Winter's Grasp and Cone of Cold in DA2. Still undecided for the spec between Knight-Enchanter and Necromancer. I always selected Death Siphon and Walking Bomb in previous games too, but Knight Enchanter less or more allow me to redo my DAO melee-Mage. I guess the spec quest is what will make me choose.

Ah yes. You see I haven't decided on that. That's one of the reasons why I don't know who to choose (as well as the fact that all three are awesome). Usually I know from the get-go I know my character's race, gender, personality, sexuality etc etc. This one has me stumped lol! Your advice is great though! Thanks very much for that! All of them have valid points, but I think I'm going to do what raging_monkey suggested - that'll stop me from moping about!  ;)

What kind of character are you planning to romance Cass with?

With a mage obviously. Cassandra ends up with a mage. Thank Galyan for putting that in my head.

Most likely, barring any sudden changes, I would romance Cass with either a Dalish Elf Mage or Qunari Mercenary Mage. Both of them are alien to her in a sense, so it can make a lot of sense for them to not believe in the Maker. Also, Cass has had her chance with a Circle Mage before, time to show her how other mages fare.  :P

I plan to play as a Chantry-wary & Templar-wary Trevelyan since his character description says that he has been on the run from Templars who want to kill him for just being a mage and the last thing he did before getting the Mark was being involved in diplomacy so he will most likely be involved with Josephine...

I think the Necromancer ought to be fun, especially with those passive. Plus, you can probably have some dialogue with Cass about it!

Knight Enchanters are so boring though....

But very powerful . I think I saw a hit in a video doing over 5k damage to a Dragon.

Then you ought to also have seen Blackwall hit the Dragon at the same time...

See a level mentioned?

It could be by that point in the same a Two hander is dealing comparable damage geared and specced right.

One must remember that Knight Enchanter, while powerful, take a while to be at their full potential. The powerful KE you saw is a high level, level 18 Vivienne with crafted items....

In the early stages like Level 12, like was in the Emerald Graves gameplay, KE drains a lot of mana and it is not easy to deal lots of damage...

Additionally, I think in terms of pure magical damage, Rift Mage is going to be the most devastating one because if you look at the mage specializations, KE is a battlemage / Jedi Knight, Necromancer is a pet & CC, Rift Mage is a straight up damage dealer.

Yes, but the colour of the hit was the same of the hit Vivienne did With the sword in another video .

I know. Though I was talking on another video.
As for RM, I agree, since they have firestorm. That spell is Going to do a hell of damage.

Don't think so. Vivienne in another video was level 18.

YES. YOU SHALL ALL BURN

Which will consist of spells that use up a lot of mana and Rift Mage spells look to be elemental meaning they can be resisted by enemies with enchantments or natural resistances or natural immunities...

I am sure Firestorm would do nothing on Venatori spellbinders, Rage Demons and some Dragons thanks to their Fire immunity...

Every specialization has its tradeoff...

KE- Very powerful late game, needs time to build up, mana intensive in early stages and without gear.

Necro- Versatile with CC, DOT, Damage jumps, resurrection and lich but not as straight up powerful as the other two...

Rift - Straight up most damage but it is elemental meaning damage can be negated or resisted...

Yo, how are people going to spec Magi Tevelyan? I'm thinking Winter/KE to be honest. Maybe some spirit for the barriers.

Elemental Rift Mage.

That is what I like about the specializations we have now...All of them are powerful in their own way and do not trump one another..at least from what I have seen so far..That is balance...

Unlike DAO where Arcane Warrior was downright the best specialization and things like Shapeshifter was crap...

For real ? Or is this a jest ? Pictures ? It does make sense though, you are pulling stuff from the Fade so it should give spirit damage...

Probably going to try for some kind of utility mage. Debuffs, CC, DoT with just the occasional straight up DPS thrown in there when necessary. So prob something like Barrier and a couple of passives for it, Dispel, a lot of the Winter tree and then either Necro or KE, undecided on that one since both would add some neat tricks to a mage like this.

Totally joking lol. I kinda wish that they'd give it a green color scheme to make it fit the theme for Rift Mage.

Entropy is gone though, isn't it?

That was like the bulk of my utility magic right there.
