I'm trying to picture the situation where a bunch of scary man in black armor take in a cute little girl, barely into her teens, the death of her brother and uncle still fresh in her mind, and perform what is essentially lobotomy on her, even if its temporary.

 

At least she then found solace in Byron, her mentor and the closest she had to a father. And then he was taken from her too. And then Divine Beatrix from old age.

Oh Cass.........

 

And yet despite this, she refuses to succumb to cynicism or despair, her heart alight with passion, courage, and an ideal of goodness more than ever. Truly a beautiful character inside and out.

I hold the belief that it takes tremendous courage to maintain true optimism, especially in a cynical world like Thedas. Barring any drastic changes to her personality, which is frankly unlikely, this is what I admire the most about Cassandra Pentaghast.

She finds some old book that was supposed to be read by Lord Seekers only. Apparently they created Rite of Tranquility ages ago and knew how to cure it.

She then says that during her training they used it on her and later summoned a spirit of faith to cure her and that's how she got her abilities. And Cass had no idea about what happened to her!

So this new info brings up an interesting question: when the Inquisitor learns the Templar spec, will it be the Seeker way or the Templar way? Bioware talked about making the specs more closely tied to the story, so I don't think they'll hand wave it like they have previously.

With all the new info, I think I will wait a bit to confirm a romance with Cass. She's still my favorite, but I absolutely don't want a bittersweet romance where my LI has to leave for the greater good or whatnot. Some may have loved the Alistair romance in Origins; it literally made me throw my controller across the room. I get enough unhappy endings in RL, I'm not playing 100+ hours in a video game to get one. Hopefully this romance is confirmed as "safe" but until it is, I think I'll putter around the Hinterlands!

watching the interview with Miranda Raison certainly makes more sense now, what with the new revelations. Inner demons, troubles she had during her youth, being more vulnerable on the inside, empathy for others etc.

I gotcha. I think If it was a bittersweet romance, I wouldn't never do it, but I'm not starting out with it that's for sure. My first game on origins where I romanced Alistair has actually never been officially finished...just a save hanging out there right after Morrigan reveals the DR. I was like, "So...I need to sacrifice myself or Alistair OR need to let me LI sleep with another woman? Not happening." I was so steamed I put the game down for a few weeks and restarted with a male city elf who romanced Morrigan. I get WAAAy too involved with the romances. So the prospect of another $hitty romance like that in DA:I is enough to give me pause.
