The Divine thing seemed kind of off to me, too. Thought it was another 4chan poster pulling my leg. Then I found the audio of Morrigan saying that Vivienne became the Divine. Hard to argue it isn't legit, after that.

And after some thought, I have to admit, the idea is pretty intriguing. I probably won't make Cassandra Divine if she's romanced. But if not? I have a few tough Inquisitors who might like the idea of a warrior leading the Chantry.

It's clear that after the events of Dragon Age Inquisition, the Chantry will change. Choosing the new Divine will be a very intriguing choice, one I think I will relish. We as players will have the chance of profoundly affecting the established church throughout most of known Thedas. That's an awsome choice to face.

Just think, a Warrior Pope. I'll probably favor Vivienne, but I can see an Inquisitor choosing Cass. She doesn't compromise her beliefs, and she will admit when she's wrong. Very admirable traits in a leader. But they might get her torn apart in Orlais.

I think its simply an attempt to add impact to player choice, and provide more relevance(?) to the involved party members, whereas a more logical thing to do would be to ascend one of the Mothers, like Mother Giselle.

The role of the Divine, regardless of the Chantry reformation, is going to be heavily involved in politics, especially Orlesian politics like you mentioned. Both Leliana and Cass seem like ill fits for the job. Leli is better at working in the shadows, while Cass's ideal to do good may be insufficient. I agree with you that Vivienne seems the best fit. She has the steel and guile needed. Plus, unlike the other two, I believe Vivi will actually relish this position

In this regard, it's way too much power to be given to the player. So much so that it feels vastly out of place and not even remotely realistic.

So the choice they give the player is "Help make the world a better place" or "Be with the one you love". That's low. At least with Alistair people could be his mistress.
