Sacred Ashes Leliana still gives me chills.

Cassandra is Right Hand of the Divine. If you're on the wrong side of the Chantry she's essentially Darth Vader. Leliana is Left Hand of the Divine. She uses guile and her experience as a bard to carry out her orders.

Cassandra will pin you to a wall with a blade to your throat and demand that you tell her what she wants to know. Leliana will make pleasant smalltalk and attempt to coax you into giving away information... or sneak into your room at night and hold you at knifepoint.

Cassandra probably doesn't care for Leliana's way of doing things and vice versa. She'd probably roll her eyes at her "vision/sign from the Maker" shtick as well.

One's a hardened Seeker with a grudge against inanimate objects, the other's a spoony bard with a spiritual side. Together they fight crime on the rough streets of Orlais.

 

Sigh, why don't we have Leliana as a companion? (rethorical question, I know they don't want to bring back previous romantic interests).The banter between those two would be epic.

I'm hoping we'll get banter between companions and non companions in the keep, like the various little not-cutscenes you could walk into on the normandy in ME3.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but, does it seem like Cass's hair has been a lot lighter/more sandy brown in the last few screenshots? Its still black in the trailer, so I'm just curious if its the lighting or if they changed her hair.

The capture device has messed up on some of the screenshots they said. That's why a couple had Varric with dark hair when the trailer shows it is the same color.

Cassandra's hair is an ever changing thing. If the same ships and it turns out she's a red-head, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'd say: The Lion King, simply because I think she would love the romance. Not really sure about the rest.

I think the only type of movies Cassandra would like are the ones with heroes in it. The more badass the characters, the better.

 

Bonus points if there are dragons in it.

I suspect any apparent changes in Cassandra's hair in certain screen shots is mostly due to the way lighting works (or doesn't, yet) in Frostbyte.

For what value of heroism?

Simba taking back the throne and becoming the king is heroic. What about the ending of Pulp Fiction? He's not doing good, but he's trying hard not to do evil.

Would Ripley in the original Alien be a hero, or a hardass who managed to survive a horrible situation?

One of the best scenes in the original Alien movie was the one where Ripley refuses to let an injured man on board the spaceship. A facehugger burst out of an egg and attached itself to him, and his friends/coworkers are desperate to get him inside the ship and to the medical facility.

Ripley says that's against quarantine procedures and he has to wait five days(?) in the loading area before he's allowed on the ship.

It's a great scene because it's so unusual: heroes are almost never by-the-book types who'd rather let someone die horribly than break quarantine rules, and in the popular slasher films of the time (and now) being a b***** was a sure way to end up being killed horribly onscreen to (presumed) audience cheers.

Alien is a wonderfully realistic horror film in that the characters feel like mundane, normal people instead of characters pulled from a horror or action film. The person in charge, Ripley, makes the pragmatic decision, and the people trapped outside with their hurt friend are angry and confused. No one is being stupid and their actions flow naturally from what we know of them while still doing what the plot needs.

When the doctor override Ripley, we can easily view that as an act of compassion and thus 'good,' but it's a movie character action -- doctors in the real world are compassionate but also understand that you can't endanger the life of others by mishandling people with possible contagions. Because we're so used to movie character behavior, we ignore the oddness of his action, but in hindsight, it becomes clear something was amiss.

Notice that a similar scenario plays itself out in Prometheus with Vickers, Sharon Stone's character, not wanting to let a sick Holloway onto the ship. Of course, that confrontation ends with an overly dramatic scene where she kills him with a flame thrower, and then she ends up dying in the end.

It's pure action movie garbage. The character act and react in inconsistent* and unrealistic** ways, because most of what they do seems to only serve the plot.

* Professional, by-the-book Vickers seduces an employee while he's on duty and the only life-line two men trapped outside have.
** An archeologist who is depressed after discovering a massive alien complex.

Going by her "hero worship" of her brother, I was going to say the White Knight type of heroism, she pretty much describe the trope when she described him in DotS. She also respected F!Hawke (and I guess M!Hawke too) because she rose from nothing and fought against the odds to become the Champion of Kirkwall.

 

She would probably love The Lion King now that I think about it...
